"Does one must or should be baptized to be saved according to the bible? Are you to be baptized in the name of the father, son and holy spirit or Jesus Christ ?"

Thanks once more for the opposing side returning.

In regards to the comments arguing over semantics, let's straighten this right up. The "or" in the topic means whichever way you wish to say this question. It doesn't mean the wording has different meanings.

Scripture say of all thy getting, get understanding.

Which atheists won't have any , no how.

"Does one must or should be baptized to be saved according to the bible?"

Yes . According to the bible , in order to be saved, one should be baptized.

One must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

If you were baptized father son and holy ghost , you are not saved according to scripture.

If you were sprinkled, you are not baptized and you have to be baptized.

In order to be baptized, you have to be buried, not sprinkled. Being baptized, being born again, you are resurrected.

One that has been resurrected was buried.

The opposing side can start with asking questions on any statement I gave thus far.

If you were baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are not saved.

That individual baptized is not saved, save the one that believes the name of the Father ,Son and Holy Spirit is that of power that actually is saving the person.

This is what is involved in holiness which the scripture teaches, being baptized.

Raising your right hand, "accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior " is christianity which is all man made.

God of the scriptures has nothing to do with that. God who was Jesus manifested in flesh has nothing to do with that. He did not establish that.

He established holiness according to scripture. It was he that was to set an example and did set an example for the way of holiness, not christianity.

Scripture say he is the way. Scripture say a highway shall be there , the way of holiness. Not the way of christianity, mormonism, protestant, presbyterian,Pentecostal, orthodox, etc.

He set an example of baptism so as the scripture teaches about those buried with through baptism. That is holiness. So because christianity doesn't teach baptism to be saved, it therefore shows the distinction.

The spirit of error and the spirit of truth.

Let's get the book of scriptures.

In the book of first Peter chapter two and at verse :

"21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example"

So Christ leaving an example because he said to those he said to pick up the cross and follow him.

What are those that follow him following?

In the book of Matthew chapter 3,

verse 16.

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water"

The followers of Jesus are to be baptized. The disciples, the apostles and they baptized others.

Staying in the book of Matthew chapter 28 and starting at verse 18.

"18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” "

This was commanded. They were to follow his example in which he commanded to follow. The disciples, the apostles and those that obeyed to getting baptized.

If you do not obey, you will not be saved. You will not be resurrected to eternal life according to John 5.

So the apostles obeyed making disciples of nations.

The people asked "what shall we do?"

Oh....or what "must" we do?

And Peter said unto them "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ" according to Acts 2.

Now I'm running out of time to submit for this round, so I gotta conclude this.

Peter fulfilled in the name of the Father , Jesus Christ, in the name of the son, Jesus Christ, in the name of holy Spirit, Jesus Christ.

It was Jesus Christ that said whoseover believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved.

So this baptism that saves is done in the name of Jesus Christ.

For the book says there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

In the name of the Father, the book of Acts says. Jesus manifested the father's name according to John 17.

Book of Romans teaches about confessing the name I believe.

So none of these things are powerful where you receive power by according to Acts 1 if one hasn't been taught , given, calls and confesses the name of Christ.

If to the only extent people only believe in baptism not having the full revelation of that, manifestation of that, they don't have a practice of baptism that will save nor be valid receiving the holy Spirit which is life.

Which Christ said who he was, the truth, the way and the life(holy Spirit).

This is why the name of Christ is required for salvation.

It is whom you are buried with according to Romans 6, having a newness of life. To God counted alive through that name again....Jesus Christ. Not Father Son holy Spirit.

Ok that's it. I breezed through that without specifying each and every verse due to time.

We can expand on the different points as we go along.

I think I would agree with a lot of what pro said about the importance of Baptism. I think pro just doesn’t understand why Baptism is so important. Baptism is important because it is the way to salvation instituted by Christ. Pro seems to think Baptism is only accepting Jesus as your Savior and this is what makes it so important. Christianity is about more than just words. We need to do what Christ told us to do.

“One must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

If you were baptized father son and holy ghost , you are not saved according to scripture.”

Pro seems to really be picking and choosing verses that fit this viewpoint, but we’ll get into this later since pro actually quotes a verse that supports the Trinitarian formula.

“If you were sprinkled, you are not baptized and you have to be baptized.

In order to be baptized, you have to be buried, not sprinkled. Being baptized, being born again, you are resurrected.

One that has been resurrected was buried.”

Pro seems to be saying that since Baptism is our own resurrection, we must be “buried” in the water. This idea has no Biblical basis:

Jesus answered: Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5 DRB)

The only things necessary for a valid Baptism are the water, the Trinitarian formula, and the intention to baptize.

I can agree with pro that Baptism by immersion is probably ideal since it is more ancient and shows more determination to actually be baptized, but simply pouring water on the head was never seen as invalid.

“That individual baptized is not saved, save the one that believes the name of the Father ,Son and Holy Spirit is that of power that actually is saving the person.”

I’m confused as to what you are trying to say by this. Are you trying to say the Trinitarian formula can be valid if you believe that is what actually saves you?

“This is what is involved in holiness which the scripture teaches, being baptized.

“Raising your right hand, "accepting Jesus Christ as your personal savior " is christianity which is all man made.

“God of the scriptures has nothing to do with that. God who was Jesus manifested in flesh has nothing to do with that. He did not establish that.

“He established holiness according to scripture. It was he that was to set an example and did set an example for the way of holiness, not christianity.”

Jesus never told his Apostles to write anything down. Scripture was never intended to be our final authority.

“Scripture say he is the way. Scripture say a highway shall be there , the way of holiness. Not the way of christianity, mormonism, protestant, presbyterian,Pentecostal, orthodox, etc.”

Pro seems to think that Jesus didn’t want His Church to be visible or have any sort of organized religion.

And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Mattthew 16:18 DRB)

Pro denies this verse in many ways. Pro doesn’t believe in a visible Church, and maybe not even any kind of Church at all. Pro also denies that the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Pro believes the truth was overcome by Trinitarians and hidden for centuries.

And concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water. But if you have no living water, baptize into other water; and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm. But if you have neither, pour out water three times upon the head into the name of Father and Son and Holy Spirit. But before the baptism let the baptizer fast, and the baptized, and whoever else can; but you shall order the baptized to fast one or two days before. Didache Chapter 7

This is from the Didache which was written about the same time as the New Testament. This shows that the Trinitarian formula was already in use and that pouring water on the head was still seen as valid, it was just not the ideal form.

Pro somehow uses this verse to explain the necessity of Baptism while also ignoring the Trinitariam formula. This is part of the Great Commisson. Jesus told His Apostles how to baptize. These are the very instructions for how to baptize.

Finally, I’ll show this verse:

Paul having passed through the upper coasts, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples. And he said to them: Have you received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? But they said to him: We have not so much as heard whether there be a Holy Ghost. And he said: In what then were you baptized? Who said: In John's baptism. (Acts 19:1-3 DRB)

In this verse Paul asks some disciples if that have received the Holy Spirit, and they say they have never even heard of the Holy Spirit. Paul is surprised by this, suggesting that the name of the Holy Spirit should be mentioned at Baptism. Then they answer they were baptized by John the Baptist, whose baptisms were only to pave the way for Christ’s Sacrament of Baptism.

Ultimately, when the New Testament uses the phrase “baptized in the name of Jesus,” it is trying to distinguish it from other types of baptism. The way Jesus said to be baptized was “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

This is just like the scripture that says having ears and cannot hear. Having eyes and cannot see.

If you actually see to read what I said, I went over about the people asking"what shall we DO ".

I just went over about the commission giving in Matthew 28:19 from Jesus.

Scripture say Whereunto ye do well that ye take heed.

Take heed to what is being said.

"actually quotes a verse that supports the Trinitarian formula."

Even Jesus didn't even say "this is the trinitarian formula".

Just adding to the bible . That's what these people have been taught to do.

"Pro seems to be saying that since Baptism is our own resurrection, we must be “buried” in the water. This idea has no Biblical basis:"

Give us scripture that says or teaches that you don't resurrect from being buried.

Scripture teaches those that are in Christ resurrect. You give bible that it's not from being buried.

"The only things necessary for a valid Baptism are the water, the Trinitarian formula, and the intention to baptize."

Give scripture for this. I suspect I'm going to ask this over and over throughout this .

"I can agree with pro that Baptism by immersion is probably ideal since it is more ancient and shows more determination to actually be baptized, but simply pouring water on the head was never seen as invalid."

Then you have to be buried then. How are the dead raised up the Bible asks?

Jesus died, was buried and resurrected. This shouldn't even be disputed .

"I’m confused as to what you are trying to say by this. Are you trying to say the Trinitarian formula can be valid if you believe that is what actually saves you?"

Absolutely not because I read no where that the "trinitarian formula" saves you.

Scripture says baptism saves you . However, how does it save you?

It saves you by the one doing the saving, the Father Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches there is no other name under heaven whereby men must be saved.

Meaning no other one because scripture teaches besides him there is no savior.

But if people don't know this like the eunuch that got baptized, how can they believe on him that sent the son that is saving or saved by grace?

How can they call on God like Stephen, humble themselves and pray for God to deliver them if they just believe Father Son Holy ghost but not the actual name itself?

How can they hear without a preacher?

How can they preach except they be sent?

Peter was A God sent apostle.

How can they call on God like Stephen?

Scripture say whoseover calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

So you are saved by baptism ONLY in the name of Jesus Christ.

So for example, if a person only got baptized in the name of the Father son Holy Spirit and that person you talk to like the eunuch or as unto others particularly asked, what power unto which you were baptized and don't say Jesus Christ, don't confess it, that is what hindered the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus and the person is still not saved.

Hence why the person hasn't as much heard of any holy ghost, let alone being filled with it.

I know this is lengthy but the deep things of God, is much to unpack .

We may discuss this in a later topic forum.

"Jesus never told his Apostles to write anything down. Scripture was never intended to be our final authority."

In the flesh, not necessarily but in spirit yes .

Jesus has been moving on his men holy men of old time to speak and write the word of God including the begotten son of God.

I see why you guys add to the scripture because it's not your final authority.

Scripture say don't add. You add on "ity" to christian. You add "trinity" to these three are one. You add "trinitarian formula".

I see now. But these topics are biblical based so you are disqualified for giving anything else but what is the final authority, source, basis, whatever you want to call it , that is biblical scriptures for these topics I make.

"Pro seems to think that Jesus didn’t want His Church to be visible or have any sort of organized religion.

None of this verse contradicted what I said.

The ongoing problem is , the opposing side reads what I say with no understanding.

I'll leave it there as the opposite side didn't have any apparent counterpoints for me after this .

I'm not going to argue things that don't challenge what I say.

I think the opposite side agrees with me is that you have to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ to be saved according to Acts 2.

I'll respond to this particular subsequent section here however.

"Ultimately, when the New Testament uses the phrase “baptized in the name of Jesus,” it is trying to distinguish it from other types of baptism.

The way Jesus said to be baptized was “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

Right so they obeyed what he said in Acts 2 and baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Peter didn't say be baptized in the name of the Father son and holy Spirit because the name of the Father Son and holy Spirit must be believed on as it's the only name you can be saved through. It's not just to distinguish, it's what you are to be saved by. If there is no distinguishment, you will be baptized wrong for salvation.

“Even Jesus didn't even say ‘this is the trinitarian formula.’”

Look, I’m mainly saying “Trinitarian formula” because it’s easier to say. It means “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

“Give us scripture that says or teaches that you don't resurrect from being buried.

“Scripture teaches those that are in Christ resurrect. You give bible that it's not from being buried.”

What scripture verse says you need to be “burried” in water? It’s all secondary conclusions.

“Give scripture for this. I suspect I'm going to ask this over and over throughout this .”

Great commision combined with John 3:5:

Amen, amen I say to thee, unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. (Emphasis added)

Jesus says to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever that He has commanded. This includes baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus first says what Baptism is and then tells the Apostles the way they are to perform Baptisms.

“Then you have to be buried then. How are the dead raised up the Bible asks?

“Jesus died, was buried and resurrected. This shouldn't even be disputed .”

Isn’t that Jesus’ death? This doesn’t have to do anything with our Baptism. Where does it say only this method works?

“It saves you by the one doing the saving, the Father Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches there is no other name under heaven whereby men must be saved.

Again, I don’t think that is what the passage is trying to say. If you are saved by Jesus’ name, baptize the way He told us to.

“Scripture say whoseover calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The phrase “call upon the name of the Lord” first appears in Genesis 4:26:

But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos; this man began to call upon the name of the Lord.

The Douay-Rheims footnotes tell us:

Not that Adam and Seth had not called upon God, before the birth of Enos; but that Enos used more solemnity in the worship and invocation of God.

Calling upon God means more than just using God’s name. It is meant to be genuine worship of God.

“So you are saved by baptism ONLY in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Yet Christ Himself said to do it in the name of the Trinity.

“Hence why the person hasn't as much heard of any holy ghost, let alone being filled with it.”

Let’s look back at the passage about Paul talking to disciples:

Paul having passed through the upper coasts, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples. And he said to them: Have you received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? But they said to him: We have not so much as heard whether there be a Holy Ghost. And he said: In what then were you baptized? Who said: In John's baptism. (Acts 19:1-3 DRB)

They say they have never even heard of the Holy Spirit. Paul learns it was not Jesus’ Baptism, which includes mention of the Holy Spirit. This makes sense with the Trinitarian formula.

“I see why you guys add to the scripture because it's not your final authority.”

Where does Scripture say it is the final authority? It doesn’t. Anyone can make up his own interpretation of Scripture. It can’t be our final authority if we need help trying to even understand it.

“Scripture say don't add. You add on ‘ity’ to christian. You add ‘trinity’ to these three are one. You add ‘trinitarian formula.’”

Adding “ity” to Christian merely changes the form of the word. To call this “adding” seems ridiculous. Plus, find a verse that says don’t add. The Apostles received the Deposit of Faith, which included the Trinity.

“Peter didn't say be baptized in the name of the Father son and holy Spirit because the name of the Father Son and holy Spirit must be believed on as it's the only name you can be saved through. It's not just to distinguish, it's what you are to be saved by. If there is no distinguishment, you will be baptized wrong for salvation.”

Even if Peter did baptize in the name of Jesus without the Trinitarian formula, why would you choose to have Peter trump Jesus? This kind of logic makes no sense. Also, it makes no sense it baptize soley in the name of Jesus when Jesus says to do it in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Looking for the easy way. So the other way is too long for thee. You only have so much room to change things around. See, because narrow is the way. You don't have too much room .

Alright.

"What scripture verse says you need to be “burried” in water? It’s all secondary conclusions." "

You don't prove your point by responding with a question to a challenge. This is evasion.

My point stands not proven wrong.

"Isn’t that Jesus’ death? This doesn’t have to do anything with our Baptism. Where does it say only this method works?"

Oh you shouldn't have challenged this. Boy if I had a reader.....get me Romans 6.

"3 Know ye not,"

You don't know. Scripture say you err not knowing the scripture.

"3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?"

"Isn’t that Jesus’ death? This doesn’t have to do anything with our Baptism. "

Oh it doesn't have anything to do with the death of Jesus you say.

Scripture say every man a liar. Scripture teaches he is the example. So you do and follow what he did and the scripture explains what and why you do it in reference to Jesus.

So what did baptism have to do with the death of Jesus?

Next verse explains,

"4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

Baptism is the burial going in and under, not being sprinkled but buried going down coming up as being raised.

"Again, I don’t think that is what the passage is trying to say. If you are saved by Jesus’ name, baptize the way He told us to."

Ok you can deny what the scriptures say.

I tell you what, If I asked you whereby men must be saved, what is the one name under heaven men must be saved by?

What are you going to say?

There's just power in the name itself .

That's why the scripture emphasizes over and over again in the name of Jesus Christ. In the name of the Lord Jesus.

The book of Colossians teaches in whatsoever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Baptism indeed, is a deed.

"It can’t be our final authority if we need help trying to even understand it."

I'm not talking about understanding it. I'm talking about not adding to it which the scripture prohibits.

"Plus, find a verse that says don’t add. The Apostles received the Deposit of Faith, which included the Trinity."

Scripture says out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established.

Let's go to Proverbs 30 and 6

"Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar."

Just think if any man was just able to add to scripture like you , the doctrine of devils would be no end. Like the scripture says no end to the books or their books I believe.

Where does the word of God stop and where man starts?

Paul said what he said and then said what the Lord has said because he didn't add to what God said.

Second witness.

DEUTERONOMY 4

"2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you."

Scripture teaches about the doctrine of man.

Every time you have to ask to give scripture for something, it shows your ignorance.

But to avail, in the book of Job it teaches, what thou know not , teach thou me. So it is much to avail .

The apostles preach one God. No where did they ever preach three persons. Otherwise, get bible for it.

"Even if Peter did baptize in the name of Jesus without the Trinitarian formula, why would you choose to have Peter trump Jesus? "

I didn't choose anything. PETER SAID WHAT HE SAID. ASK PETER, NOT ME.

Why can't you just accept what the book says?

I'm just giving you scripture to show being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus is a must. In so whatever you do . In so whatever you do, DO ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus.

There is no other name under heaven.

"This kind of logic makes no sense. Also, it makes no sense it baptize soley in the name of Jesus when Jesus says to do it in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

Logic logic logic logic logic logic.

Stiff-necked as all get out. The scripture says to walk by faith. You either accept what scripture says , as the apostles said AND DID and they did obey Jesus , did they not? Did Peter obey Jesus?

Or

Go by sight and can only believe what make sense to you. If you can't see how something is , you aren't willing to just trust that you are to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus and that just settling at Father Son and Holy Ghost is the only revelation there is settling in part, you not only don't have the mystery, but you shun from the whole Gospel.

Jesus taught in the scriptures and communicated about revealing the name of God. Throughout the scripture throughout the gospel the significance of the name is put forth from the old testament to the new testament.

You actually have to know God, know his name , know the name of your Savior, know who your Savior is . Know who the only ONE is, not three. There is the power in that one and power you will receive all according to scripture.

I yield there.

So apparently Baptism by immersion has made its way into this debate.

"3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?"

This passage doesn’t say you need to be “burried” in the water. It’s comparing Baptism with Christ’s death. Your argument is that Baptism needs to be full-immersion always. This is just an opinion from what the text says. The text never says only that kind of Baptism is a legit form.

“Oh it doesn't have anything to do with the death of Jesus you say.”

Well, the being “burried” in water has nothing to do directly with Christ’s burial. No one ever says “burried in water” anyway.

“Baptism is the burial going in and under, not being sprinkled but buried going down coming up as being raised.”

I think the “burial” in Baptism is symbolic. What kind of burial are you even talking about? Like being dunked? It’s dying to your old self.

“I tell you what, If I asked you whereby men must be saved, what is the one name under heaven men must be saved by?”

So you use this Name to overrule what Man Himself said to do? How does that make any sense?

“Let's go to Proverbs 30 and 6: Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”

King Solomon added to the word of God since Deuteronomy 4:2 was already written.

"2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you."

Plus, the Trinity is just an understanding of the Scriptures. It’s only explaining what the Bible says with words. It’s not really adding.

You might need more words to explain things to people who don’t understand the concept.

Another thing: Is it wrong to add a table of contents to the Bible?

“I didn't choose anything. PETER SAID WHAT HE SAID. ASK PETER, NOT ME.”

I’m merely saying that EVEN IF Peter used Jesus’ name only, it still doesn’t mean that the Trinitarian formula is invalid, since Christ Himself told the Apostles to baptize that way. Jesus gave an actual command on HOW to baptize ALL nations. He said observe ALL I have commanded.

“You actually have to know God, know his name , know the name of your Savior, know who your Savior is . Know who the only ONE is, not three. There is the power in that one and power you will receive all according to scripture.”

And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. (1 John 5:7 DRB)

"So apparently Baptism by immersion has made its way into this debate."

I believe this is the first you finally learn from the Bible what baptism is.

"This passage doesn’t say you need to be “burried” in the water. It’s comparing Baptism with Christ’s death. Your argument is that Baptism needs to be full-immersion always. This is just an opinion from what the text says. The text never says only that kind of Baptism is a legit form."

Notice I never specified anything but baptism. You're reading into more than what my point is. I'm teaching the meaning of baptism period, that's all .

You're getting into water and all that. All I said was baptism. You got to try words better.

The verse says I believe in Romans 6 says "therefore we are BURIED with him".

So baptism is about being buried. I didn't say the verse says " you need to be “burried” in the water".

You have a real problem with paying attention to words. The verse is stating how those who get buried with Christ.

That's it. If you deny this, get bible that says you're not buried with Christ that way.

"Well, the being “burried” in water has nothing to do directly with Christ’s burial. No one ever says “burried in water” anyway."

You bringing up the water.

"I think the “burial” in Baptism is symbolic. What kind of burial are you even talking about? Like being dunked? It’s dying to your old self."

I'm talking about the burial Romans 6 is teaching. All we have to do instead doing thinking, do reading, and read what the scripture said.

"So you use this Name to overrule what Man Himself said to do? How does that make any sense?"

Don't ask me. Ask Acts 4:12.

Acts 4:12

" Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

Now again, what name is it talking about?

If you can't answer, say you can't. If you don't understand, the scriptures teach on how you can get understanding.

"King Solomon added to the word of God since Deuteronomy 4:2 was already written."

Proverbs 30 and 6 you either accept or reject. Scripture say let every man be persuaded in his own mind.

"Plus, the Trinity is just an understanding of the Scriptures. It’s only explaining what the Bible says with words. It’s not really adding.

You might need more words to explain things to people who don’t understand the concept.

Another thing: Is it wrong to add a table of contents to the Bible?"

The trinity doctrine is adding when it denies the one God the Father being holy and spirit named Jesus Christ.

To the question.

As long as it doesn't add to God's pure words, no.

"I’m merely saying that EVEN IF Peter used Jesus’ name only, it still doesn’t mean that the Trinitarian formula is invalid, since Christ Himself told the Apostles to baptize that way. Jesus gave an actual command on HOW to baptize ALL nations. He said observe ALL I have commanded."

Is Peter saying the name of the Father son and holy ghost in Acts 2:38?

"And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. "

"three are one"

The "one", the One God the Father , the word in the beginning who was God who is God the Father, the holy Father God , which is a spirit.

Hear O Israel The Lord God is one Lord, Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians says " That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ"

That's it.

So I think we agree that the burial in Baptism is a spiritual burial and a death to our old self.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

Well, it doesn't say we can't use the name of the Trinity. If the name is Jesus, Jesus told us how to baptize, and it's not in His Name.

"The trinity doctrine is adding when it denies the one God the Father being holy and spirit named Jesus Christ... As long as it doesn't add to God's pure words..."

The Trinity is just an understanding and explanation of God's pure words. Like I've said before, God the Father is not the Holy Spirit. This does not mean He is not holy or a spirit. It's just word game. Many other things are spirts and/or holy.

"Is Peter saying the name of the Father son and holy ghost in Acts 2:38?"

He could be, considering Jesus told him to do it that way? Are you going to reject Christ's method of Baptism? "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father."

"The 'one', the One God the Father , the word in the beginning who was God who is God the Father, the holy Father God , which is a spirit.

Hear O Israel The Lord God is one Lord, Jesus Christ."

John also says the Word was "with God." How can God be with God if there is just the Father?

The Lord is called Elohim, which implies plurality. He says "let us" to show there is the Son and Holy Spirit also. The oneness is in God. The plurality is in the persons. We combine the plurals and singulars in a way that has no contradictions.

"2 Thessalonians says 'That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ'"

Only hints at a weakness in your argument:

And we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly, and not according to the tradition which they have received of us. (Chapter 3, Verse 6)

They "charge" in the name of the Lord. They do not use this as their formula. It's almost an expression.

Also, the tradition is the Trinitarian formula, from Jesus Christ Himself in the Great Commission.

"So I think we agree that the burial in Baptism is a spiritual burial and a death to our old self."

No.

Baptism is burial. Doesn't matter whether spiritual or natural. Baptism is burial period.

Maybe I need to open up the challenge on water baptism.

"Well, it doesn't say we can't use the name of the Trinity. If the name is Jesus, Jesus told us how to baptize, and it's not in His Name."

You straight up denying scripture. There is no "If the name is Jesus".

If you don't use the name of Jesus Christ, you will not be saved. That's why Peter used it.

Peter obeyed Jesus and your position is not obeying that.

When Jesus said be baptized in the name of the Father Son Holy Spirit, he was talking about the name of what Peter gave.

In order to get saved and receive eternal life, who is going to give you life?

Jesus Christ.

John 10:28 said I give them eternal life.

Let's go over Acts 4 again and see what name it says.

"8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people!

9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, "

So we have Peter here again, he's going to say moreover what he said two chapters back because this is important. If you do not know the name , you don't call the name, don't confess the name and don't do all in the name, you will not be saved.

Let's read what he said.

"10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

11 Jesus is

“‘the stone you builders rejected,

which has become the cornerstone.’[a]

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

It said by the name of Jesus Christ. That is in that name, salvation is found in no one else but in that name. In the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit, is in that name of Christ.

When you make disciples, which are followers, of the nations, the nations are following Christ. Specifically following Christ's example, right.

So in order to follow his example, you have to know his name, know the one that did the specific things you are to follow.

For instance, this topic has been about baptism. Who was the one that got baptized and crucified so we know to follow what he did by getting baptized and getting crucified ourselves?.....

Father.....Holy spirit......no that's not correct.....oh.....Jesus Christ....yes.

The eunuch had to know this so he could follow the example learning from Isaiah 53 , the lamb being led to slaughter, led to crucifixion and he follows the example just as the people that were pricked in their heart and got baptized. They were aware of the actual name and you get buried in name of or in the business of Jesus Christ because it has to do or is the business of what Jesus did specifically.

These people had to learn and know which one did such things to follow the example.

These are the deep things of God you have to get in these scriptures and that it's beyond just Father son Holy Spirit.

Same thing with the Godhead. It's so deep, it's such a mystery, men just think it's three persons or personalities really making three gods and know not what they do.

But you downplaying this or rejecting this is just as what happened in Acts 4.

We can read on in verse 13

"13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.

15 So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together.

16 “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it.

17 But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”

There was a doing to stop the spreading about this to anyone in the name of Jesus Christ.

That's effectively what the opposing side is opposing. Otherwise, there should just be amen.

The apostles were given the mystery. They knew BEYOND Father son Holy Spirit. This is what Acts 4 is teaching attaching on from Acts 2.

The opposing side is hanging on to Mathew 28 thinking there is nothing more than that in what salvation is powered by.

Scripture says "“By what POWER or by what NAME did you do this ".

The emphasis again, on the name. In that name you receive the spirit, you receive life, you walk in newness of life and resurrected like Christ because you were buried specifically with him. Not Father holy Spirit. You receive the spirit, you receive power according to ACTS 1.

Continuing on in Acts 4.

"18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!

20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

See the apostles stayed steadfast like I'm doing in my position and continued as the scripture say " continue thou in the things which thou hast learned " and they obeyed what Jesus said but specifically emphasized in speaking Jesus Christ.

Not Father holy Spirit because Jesus came to manifest the name.

Now why is the name, the name , the name required, why is it a must?

How are you saved because of a name?

How does it have power?

Scripture say whatsoever things were written before time were written for our learning.

Soooooo....we go back to the old testament, God of the new testament is the same of the old.

In the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14

"if my people, who are called by my name"

Ohhh.... There goes "name" again. What gives of that ?

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. "

What???

"and I will forgive their sin"

Say what ?

"and I will forgive their sin"

The people said basically who is this man that can forgive sins?

"Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? "

"Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone"

JESUS CHRIST.

"15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. "

It is through the name in which God responds . Stephen called on God who is the Father saying Lord Jesus.

Makes it in effect, through the grace of God brings salvation, he's gracious enough expressing kindness through the Son , manifesting that name and teaching "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do".

"whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you"

One scripture referring to the son, but another to the Father. But one what the Father will give and then another what the son will do .

The Father is Jesus was Jesus in the flesh. Which is which was which is to come. Behold your God shall come.

Just by no other name under heaven, given among men.

The opposing side said " If the name is Jesus". This is not a rebuttal. This doesn't challenge anything. If the opposing side truly rejected what I've said, why is there no dispute of me saying what Acts 4 is saying?

It's more of a preference being taken. The opposing side is comfortable with staying in believing that Matthew 28 meaning nothing more , no further revelation than that .

The opposite side says "If the name is" . If there is further revelation, instead of investigating it, searching for it, what does the opposing side do?

Just not receive the revelation of Christ as the apostles did but remain in what the opposing side presumably received of man.

Scripture say " we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves".

"The Trinity is just an understanding and explanation of God's pure words. Like I've said before, God the Father is not the Holy Spirit. This does not mean He is not holy or a spirit. It's just word game. Many other things are spirts and/or holy."

It's a contradiction is what it is and perhaps you don't realize it.

I've tried to make it as plain as possible but trinitarians have taken the simple things and complicated them.

The scriptures teach there is one God the Father. It teaches that there is one spirit. This is concerning the godhead. If the one spirit is just the holy Spirit, what is the nature of the Father?

You're going to have to admit that the one spirit is Holy Spirit and Father .

The holy Spirit is not the Father meaning they don't mean the same thing.

But the Father is the holy Spirit and the holy Spirit is the Father as that one spirit is Holy Father.

Think about it think about it think about it. Let us reason together.

Try words try words. It's not playing with words, it's tryingggggg words .

The scriptures call the Father, HOLY FATHER. NOWWWWW.....WHAT IS THE NATURE OF THE FATHER? IS THE FATHER NOT SPIRIT?

If you can't get this perhaps because the trinitarian doctrine won't allow you, won't allow you to open your eyes, scripture say "Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding".

"He could be, considering Jesus told him to do it that way? Are you going to reject Christ's method of Baptism? "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father." "

Nah see you're being lukewarm here. Yet your yea be yea and no be what it is.

He specifically said in the name of Jesus Christ. What do you mean could be? Is Jesus not a name?

Scripture say "at the name of Jesus".

Christ method was Acts 2:38. That's what you're not getting. The trinity doctrine has got you stuck on Matthew 28. If you going to be steadfast in the Apostle's doctrine, you have to receive the revelation they received of Christ. Not of man, not of the trinity doctrine of man.

Christ said He that heareth you heareth me. So if you deny what the disciples said that God sent , you deny the LORD .

"John also says the Word was "with God." How can God be with God if there is just the Father?' "

This is like begging the question, why wouldn't there be two Gods?

The scriptures is basically saying God was with God. That's not two Gods. It's still one God. So of course it's the Father. Not saying "just the Father" but it is the Father because unto us there is ONE GOD THE FATHER.

You continue to detach the Father from God in specific contexts because of that faulty trinitarian doctrine.

"The Lord is called Elohim, which implies plurality. He says "let us" to show there is the Son and Holy Spirit also. The oneness is in God. The plurality is in the persons. We combine the plurals and singulars in a way that has no contradictions."

Logical, right. Is that right?

Is it scriptural? Where can we read all this?

Thus adding to Scripture.

"Only hints at a weakness in your argument:

And we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly, and not according to the tradition which they have received of us. (Chapter 3, Verse 6)

They "charge" in the name of the Lord. They do not use this as their formula. It's almost an expression.

Also, the tradition is the Trinitarian formula, from Jesus Christ Himself in the Great Commission."

Scripture say do all , DO ALL.....IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.

THAT INCLUDES BAPTISM.

SO YOU BETTER BE BAPTIZING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS.

DEBATE IS OVER.

"Baptism is burial. Doesn't matter whether spiritual or natural. Baptism is burial period."

Yes, a classic example of how God uses the physical to make things spiritually happen. He uses the physical water to make us spiritually reborn.

"You straight up denying scripture. There is no 'If the name is Jesus.'"

You're the one who says it's in the name of Jesus.

"If you don't use the name of Jesus Christ, you will not be saved. That's why Peter used it."

Really? That doesn't make sense. Where does it say if you don't do it your way, you are unsaved. Why would Peter disobey Christ's words? Your logic doesn't hold up.

"Peter obeyed Jesus and your position is not obeying that."

Well, what did Peter obey? If he didn't use the Trinitarian formula, he didn't obey Matthew 28:19.

"When Jesus said be baptized in the name of the Father Son Holy Spirit, he was talking about the name of what Peter gave."

What? This is all your human mind trying to make sense of it. I have no idea how that makes any sense. It would be better if you claimed this passage was added to the Bible or became corrupted, like many non-Trinitarians do.

"In order to get saved and receive eternal life, who is going to give you life? Jesus Christ."

How does Jesus choose to give us eternal life? In Baptism. He gives the method in Matthew 28:19. Just because salvation is from Jesus doesn't mean we use His Name in Baptism.

"It said by the name of Jesus Christ. That is in that name, salvation is found in no one else but in that name."

It's by the name Jesus we are saved, because Jesus died on the cross. Baptism is a different thing. Jesus sacrificed Himself to the Father. Jesus became man but obeyed the Father. The Trinity is active in salvation. The Father sent the Son to save us.

In the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit, is in that name of Christ.

So I guess you claim the "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" just means Jesus' name. Looks like we both just claim the other name for Baptism just means what we want it to mean. My theory works better since it says the name of Jesus was used to show different types of baptisms, true and false ones. Your theory can't offer any explain why the Trinity was used in Matthew 28:19.

"The apostles were given the mystery. They knew BEYOND Father son Holy Spirit. This is what Acts 4 is teaching attaching on from Acts 2."

How is the Jesus-only "baptism" more or "beyond"? The Jesus only formula is less. You're the one who forbids going beyond the name of Jesus.

"See the apostles stayed steadfast like I'm doing in my position and continued as the scripture say 'continue thou in the things which thou hast learned' and they obeyed what Jesus said but specifically emphasized in speaking Jesus Christ."

Didn't they learn how to baptize in Matthew 28:19?

"Christ method was Acts 2:38. That's what you're not getting. The trinity doctrine has got you stuck on Matthew 28. If you going to be steadfast in the Apostle's doctrine, you have to receive the revelation they received of Christ. Not of man, not of the trinity doctrine of man."

Wait a minute. If we must hold onto God and not man, why do you appeal to the Apostles, who are men, and not Jesus, who is God and man?

"adding to Scripture."

It's adding to Scripture to say you can't add to scripture.

"Scripture say do all , DO ALL.....IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. THAT INCLUDES BAPTISM.

SO YOU BETTER BE BAPTIZING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. DEBATE IS OVER."

Another example of all in Matthew 28:20: Jesus says to "observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you." All things includes baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

When it says do all in the name of Jesus, it doesn't say "only in the name of Jesus."

DEBATE IS OVER.

“After the foregoing instructions, baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living [running] water. If you have no living water, then baptize in other water, and if you are not able in cold, then in warm. If you have neither, pour water three times on the head, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Before baptism, let the one baptizing and the one to be baptized fast, as also any others who are able” (Didache 7:1 [A.D. 70]).

Well, Jesus said to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You cannot be baptized in Jesus’ name if you don’t even do baptism the way He said to do it.

In Acts, it says in the name of Jesus to show there is unity, not to forbid the trinitarian formula. Also, Matthew 28:19 was a direct command from Jesus, while these passages from Acts are just telling what happened.

“Is Christ divided? Was Paul then crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I give God thanks, that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Caius; Lest any should say that you were baptized in my name.” (1 Corinthians 13-15)

“Do all in Jesus’ name” does not mean only do in His name.

"Should" and "must" mean the same, and "does" is somewhat extraneous.

And "one" is a gender-neutral indefinite pronoun.

I suggest these two topics be separated into two debates simply because a debater may both support one and oppose the other of the two subjects, and that is not a simple win/lose decision for voters. And which Bible, since some include the apocrypha, and others do not, which allows greater/lesser latitude in argument. And definitions should be a part of description to avoid that as argument latter on.
