Age is important as children go threw mental, emoitional, and physical development and biological maturity between ages.
So, yes. Age is a major factor when talking about children transitioning.
2 year olds don't have the ability to understand genders, pronoun ect... with limited reasoning skills while a 13 year old has better understanding, grasp, and abstract thoughts

It's mean nothing among adults but it's extremely important between children as there is drastic changes in development.
I'm more align with older kids having ability to social transition as they're beginning to form their identity from sexuality or gender identity.

So your position is that older children should make the choice of how they behave any kind of way which would be the opposite of what they are and not the choice of their parents.
Why?
Why shouldn't parents have control of what they allow and the children should allow themselves?
What actually is the basis for minimizing the parental role aside from lawful parameters?

I go by development and cognitive ability.
Teens can work. 5 year old can't.
Teens have higher medical freedoms. A 2 year old doesn't.
Simply because "they're a child" is vague and ignores different aspects.
Here in Canada. Once you're 16. You're capable of making your own medical decisions without parent interference.
