Words brought emotion
Both good and bad
Words made us, us
And made me, me

But the words can end
And with them, goes everything
Because words are everything
When the words go, bullets take their place
And all that was built, comes crashing down
When the words go, we lose what we are
And we return to what we were
What we were back before the words
Back before the cities
And before the countries
Before the laws
Before the social order
Before science, art, literature, philosophy
Before Newton, Plato, Shakespeare, Tolstoy
The internet, the wheel, the Bible, Moby Dick
Hitler, Churchill, Socrates, Lincoln
Before all of that
And most of all, before everything
Before the words
Because the words are everything
And without them, we are nothing
