One of the problems of Preferred Optional Requirements Now is the demand of expedency of people attempting to apply cultural standards to online negotiations. For example, some see it as culturally appropriate to bow and exchange business cards in 1 culture, while another culture exalts shaking a hand or giving a gift.

In online negotiations the value is deterministic, it is too closely related to cultural values and personal ideology on how a person presents themselves IN FRONT OF A SCREEN! The method or medium of interaction tends to be less personal than say, face to face meeting, but is somewhat more INTIMATE than simply using words, and this connection of imagery and voice association tends to reinforce cultural understanding.

What do you think? Should we reevaluate online negotiations? Are all online negotiations deterministic based on culture and ideas?

... did you pick up what i put down?

Online negotiations are generally

non-deterministicdue to a variety of factors inherent in human interaction and the nature of information exchange. However, specific automated or highly structured systems can be designed to be deterministic.

@melcharaz

I think meeting in person is far more… personal.

I don’t think we need to reevaluate online discussions. We already know they are not as good as being around people irl.

I still don’t know what to type!

Online discussions are often considered less effective than in-person ones because

they lack non-verbal cues like body language and tone, which can make it harder to build rapport and read reactions. While online platforms are convenient, they can also suffer from technical issues, distractions, and a lack of spontaneity, potentially leading to more superficial or awkward interactions.

Advantages of Online Discussions

  1. Flexibility: Participants can engage in discussions at any time and from anywhere, which is a major draw for individuals balancing education with other life demands. This flexibility also removes the need for commuting, saving time and money.
  2. Time for Reflection: Asynchronous online formats allow participants to take time to read, reflect, and form more thoughtful and articulate responses, rather than having to reply immediately as in a face-to-face setting.
  3. More Equitable Participation: Online discussions can be more inclusive, as quieter or more introverted individuals may feel less anxious and more comfortable sharing their thoughts in a non-face-to-face environment.
  4. Written Record: Online discussions create an automatic, permanent written record that can be revisited, printed, or archived for future review and reference.
  5. Accessibility: Online platforms increase reach, allowing people from different geographical locations to participate easily, provided they have a device and internet connection.

I treat people with addictions. I am a therapist.

What therapy do you use to ween them off porn.

I guess it's very hands on.

@SergeantLynch

I take the hands off approach.

You just let your mouth do the talking.

The "hands-off" approach to therapy is

a treatment style where the therapist uses minimal physical contact, focusing on guiding the patient to perform their own exercises and activities, rather than manually manipulating the body. Key components include providing exercise programs, education, and using methods like biofeedback, and it emphasizes patient autonomy and active participation in their recovery.

Is Lucy one of yours?

Because by their own admission, they are autonomous and participate actively.

How hands off can intensive be.

Some have to be constantly monitored by electronic devices.

@Debby

Such is progress.

One day everyone will be fitted with an electric monitoring device.

In fact, are not most people already voluntarily attached to monitoring devices?

Such is progress.

@SergeantLynch

The high use of monitoring devices is driven by their utility in healthcare (remote patient monitoring, chronic disease management), productivity (computers, business applications), and personal activities like gaming and entertainment. Remote patient monitoring, in particular, is increasing due to the ability to provide real-time data for early detection and personalized treatment plans, improving patient outcomes and reducing hospital visits.

@Debby

Yes, you are young and therefore generationally accepting of technological progress. I was born and conditioned previously, so I see monitoring as intrusive and invasive. Nonetheless, I am fully aware of the evolutionary necessity for change, whether that be a purposeful necessity or just simply an evolutionary inevitability.

@SergeantLynch

Yes, many types of

monitoring devices are less intrusive today, particularly in the fields of healthcare and smart home technology. This shift is driven by advancements in sensor technology, data analytics, and user demand for convenience and privacy.

@Debby

I would suggest that the physical subtlety of the intrusion, does not necessarily lessen the intrusive nature of it's purpose.

That’s like Trump’s pussy grabbing. Intrusive but condoned.
