Are y'all watching the gold/silver markets? I'm talking the commodities, themselves, not paper, which is currently being over-sold and there's not the gold or silver in actual product to support the sales of paper [gold/silver stock, effectively]. But the value of both in real commodities is rising steadily and is well above just a year ago, andI expect it continues rising. Wahoo!

I have some investments in silver and gold. I welcome any rise in their price. I know long term they are going to rise anyway, I just hope for a significant rise, at least 100x over next 40 years. In other words, the rise which was seen from 1970 to 2025, I hope repeats in next 40 years, and more. I understand you are a millionaire by investments in gold alone, when ignoring all other income. If land, silver, and gold rise in price 100x in next 40 years, I will be a millionaire too. But its so long term, and million will probably be worth a lot less after 40 years, but hopefully not much less.

And yes, I buy actual gold, not the paper or some investments owned by another party.

The price of gold keeps growing. It is competing with bitcoin.

Good on you, my friend. And, yes, hold on; don't sell now.

Gold [the real stuff, not just paper] is going to outstrip bitcoin as if it wasn't there, at all.

the ideal plan is to sell after 40 years, gradually when needed. tho if I need to sell earlier, I will.

It cost more to invest in gold because you need insurance, storage charges, dealership markup.

You dont need insurance. For storage, just keep it somewhere safe in home, on hidden place. Only if you have a lot of gold would you need some special storage. Gold is usually bought and sold at specific stores, and stores buying gold are only interested in gold content and pay only for that. Investing in gold jewelry is usually worse than investing in pure gold, if you later sell to those stores, because jewelry is higher price per gram of gold when you buy it. the cost for you is greater. However, jewelry can be sold privately for a bit higher price. I do have a wide range of investments, and my main rule in investment is to invest in things which have long duration time, and gain value over time. However, I am not sure if my investment in books and comic books will pay off. I have a large collection of books and comic books which I need to start selling, because I think they gained enough value and selling them gradually will maximize my profit over time.

Hang on, it's going higher. Silver, too, at an even higher rate of increase. Could be $200, minimum, by week end. But only the real metal. Stock in G&S will fail; it's just paper, and worse, sold and re-sold, and what that's worth goes into toilet, daily, just like a crashing stock in any commodity.

It maybe too late to invest in gold. Maybe silver is a good option.

Gold is quite expensive - over $5,000/oz [spot price], and most people do not have a spare $5,000 hanging around. But silver is still a good buy at just over $100/oz spot price. I started buying gold when it was $400/oz in the mid 70s. I started buying silver 10 years later at about $5/oz, so I'm doing well, now. But silver is slated to increase its value exponentially because its use cannot be recycled for industry like gold can be, mostly for electronics, so its availability decreases, thus raising its value. At spot of $100 today, silver could be hundreds in a short time - months [i.e., less than a year].

People dont have to buy oz. It is probably better to buy those 5 gram gold bars. Having more items is better, because it later allows a more gradual selling. If I urgently need 500$, I would prefer to sell 5 grams of gold, rather than being forced to sell 31 grams at once.

A time will come when men will be wearing gold bars around their neck as a symbol of success.

Yes, good suggestion, the gram bars. Whatever one thinks they can afford is prudent.perhaps silver is a more affordable investment, and just as valid for increase in value that is virtually guaranteed..

Men wearing gold bars around their neck will make it easier for women to see who are good investors.

Does that mean Gold is a bad investment or showing it as an investment is bad.?

Edit post

@Debby

Carrying gold around your neck makes it much easier for someone to rob you. Having gold is one thing. Putting it out so everyone sees, including thieves, bad idea.

Warren Buffet talks about his wealth and investments all the time. Gold is easier to show than say real estate stocks.
