Once I first heard An Occasional Cortex, I was convinced the woman had many loose screws holding her head inadequately together. Now, she makes this insane claim: "You cannot earn a billion dollars." She has, allegedly, an Econ degree, but I've always thought she earned it laying on her corner bar doing the horizontal mamba with her profs. I don't know what excuse Oba'a has, because he said much the same thing back in his day: "There comes a time when you have made enough money."

Socialism insists "The creation of personal wealth is undesirable."

Free market capitalism says "Ambition, planning, and execution creates personal wealth."

Put those two philosophies in opposition in the ring; you tell me which has the more likely knock-out punch.

Hint: Not a single socialist government has lasted longer than 100 years; the average is 40. Meanwhile, the US, as a constitutional, free market democratic republic, has endured 250 years, but if one counts the fact that it began as free market colonies of Great Britain, it has endured over 400 years.

People who believe in enforcing a Minimum wage often also believe in enforcing a Maximum wage.

In reality, those limits are artificial and arbitrary.

You can have the value of a job set near zero depending on how useless it is (like watching paint dry)

And it can go the other way as well.

Agreed. At my last two companies where I filled the role of Process Control Manager, I taught my employees how to calculate their own worth to the company by their percentage of contribution to the bottom line achieved by gross revenue to the company. That way, they clearly saw their personal worth, and, at review time, they could tell me what they calculated their raise should be. I witnessed something remarkable. Being given that opportunity, they often undervalued themselves, but over time, learn3ed how to calculate more carefully. I had already made the calculations myself, and made offers of a raise higher than their calc. It also had the benefit of their improvement on the job, since the realized they would be recognized for their personal contribution. That made my argument to my manager to award the raises we calculated because it was obvious their work ethic was increasing.

Yes, such is society.

And to "earn" simply means to get something for doing something...Rather than a specific money for calorie transaction.

Though life expectancy and good health cannot necessarily be bought...This largely depends upon luck and good sense.

So get up, do the basics, do other stuff, do the necessary basics do other stuff go to bed again and one day not wake up.

How healthy financial success is, I don't know...I'm guessing that it has it's pro's and con's too.

Though typically, Faux needs to criticise women and democrats...And I'm only guessing that she presents with higher melanin levels...Such is Faux's trinity of evil.

Only jibing Faux...You know you love it...I just thought that the discussion also needed a third angle.

Yes its possible to earn a billion dollars. But acceptance of that doesnt diminish her point that billionaires do this through society's and other peoples help, and when looking at social justice, that all is still significant

AOC's "new" rhetoric started with Obama's "you didn't build that" doctrine.

It's just a recognition of the tragically weakened property rights today in America.

and when looking at social justice, that all is still significant

Social justice is just a cleaner way to justify Communism and justify the eventual elimination of property rights.

It's an easier sell than 100 million+ dead corpses or memes of Cuba on TikTok.

You have me totally wrong, Sarge, even in jest. kammycacklecakes is whacko [and I've dealt with her since she was DA in SFO], not because she is black, or green, or whatever, but because somebody must have dropped her on her head when a baby and that incident messed with both head and mouth, because neither work well to describe what she senses, if she has senses. Sure doesn't make any. Neither did Bidumb, nor Oba'a, nor does An Occasional Cortex, Weekend Bernie, Shoofly, or Nanny Pelostomy; I suspect all for the same reason. Oh, let's include MCcancan, Mitchell, TrickyDick, Mitt-nit-wit 41, 43...

Well, all earning requires society's help. Maybe that is your point, of course, and if so I agree. I think the bigger defense of wealth through business is the right to contract, which I think is a bit too quickly thrown aside in these discussions. Like, once you agree to work for x dollars an hour, you can't demand anything beyond that. There are ways in which contracts can be abused or nonconsensual and ways in which rich people often act immorally, but I think those are often overgeneralized to say employment is always theft, when I think by default it's not.

Hmmmmm...I didn't mention "cammycacklecakes"...I thought that you were referring to Ocasia Cortez...AKA AOC.

Though I have always stated that I didn't think That Cammy was up to much intellectually...Her opponent even less so.

How do these people ever get to be selected as the potential leaders of the USA Faux?

And sleepycreepyjoe.

Perhaps there are others that pull their strings...What do you think Faux?

We do have a level of agreement. I've never said Trump was the best ever, and I don't believe it. He's okay, even pretty good, but others rate higher. But, few exceptions, I'd like someone older than Rubio and Vance for '28, both of whom I'd consider in a later round, but. I don't see a Dem leader right now that I'd vote for. There are some in Congress I'd like to consider, but they're too young to run in '28. I've come to like Fetterman as a Senator, but he's not presidential and I don't think ever will be. I liked Sherrod Brown, Dem Senator from Ohio until 2025, but he's running for Senate again this fall, and could be a candidate I'd vote for in 2032, assuming I'm still around.

@fauxlaw

Well yes. When one is 66 plus, 6 years becomes a large proportion of ones remaining potential.

I will/would be 72, and so I'm reasonably confident.

And given my views on politics and politicians, I never vote in British general or regional elections.

Though I did vote against Brexit...And Boris sent me a letter of condolence, thanked me for voting and gave a huge promise to make everything better than it was previously...LOL.

66? I'm 76. So I may be more than reasonably confident, boyo.

@fauxlaw

Well, at 66 I'm reasonably confident at reaching 72 in good health.

At 72...Maybe...Will have to wait and see.

From there on in it's good to be able to remain reasonably confident.

So obviously at 76 you have the edge on me.

Though like me I expect that you knew of people who were here one day and gone shortly afterwards.

But let's remain positive Faux.

I don't know why the UK even voted for Brexit when they just allowed anyone from all over the globe to establish foreign tribes in your country anyway.

Wasn't Brexit supposed to give your country the authority to preserve its culture and country? Seems like a waste.

Fuck knows if most people really think about these things.

Though I'm not sure that Canada is any more racially pure than the UK...Even those Inuit bods originally came from somewhere.

Nonetheless, culture is as culture becomes...And you either chooses poutine or seal blubber.

Cultural tribalism in 2026 doesn't give a flying fuck about social skin constructs.

Human racially pure.

Who's the bod in the picture?

I recognise the face but can't put a name to it.
