Would you prefer to have 1 million USD immediately or magical Bank Account that gives 12% returns guaranteed for lifetime?

You have been given a choice to make.

You can either take 1 million USD tax free, completely legal or you can get a bank account(any bank account of your choosing) where you are offered lifetime of 12% returns guaranteed.

So it does not matter whether stock market crashes or there is great depression. You will get your annualized return of 12%.

*There is no lock in period on this account.*

You can freely add or remove money from it. It is essentially bank account with all bank features in it. You can even move it to another bank if you want. Though at a given time you can only have one account. Your money is guaranteed to be safe even if bank closes permanently. You can just have it moved magically to another bank of your choosing. Magic will handle the legality of it.

Restriction:

1)**You can not put other people's money in it**(this is to avoid the scenario where you use this account as business). Money in this account must belong to you. Inherited or gifted money is fine because legally that money became yours. No loopholes. This is supposed to be your account only.

2)You pay whatever tax your country charges on money in bank account.

So essentially choice is between lot of money one time or the safest guaranteed investment option that gives good returns for life.

Can I borrow to put money in it? I guess that's kind of a loophole, especially if I tell people about it so they know I will pay it back.

Even without that, I think with reasonable annual savings every year the higher rate of return beats the million after a few decades based on avg global stock market returns historically.

Equation I used in desmos that shows it pays off after 30 years:

If you want to paste it in, paste: 30000\cdot\sum_{i=1}^{x}\left(1.12^{i}\right)-30000\cdot\sum_{i=1}^{x}\left(1.06^{i}\right)-1000000\cdot1.06^{x}

And another equation where x is how much you invest a year and y is how many years until it pays off to take the bank account over the million: x\cdot\sum_{i=1}^{y}\left(1.12^{i}\right)-x\cdot\sum_{i=1}^{y}\left(1.06^{i}\right)-1000000\cdot1.06^{y}=0

When I was 18, I would have taken the $1 million.
