I do not think we have elected any yet from what I am aware of. I feel that that would be a good idea though

Let's focus on the present rather than the past. I do believe that previous moderation on a debate site will help if the community believes they are qualified to do so and have proven it, but if a new user with little mod experience wants to be in that position, I don't see a reason why he shouldn't be considered by the community
