Feedback from new user

I don't know, I saw Savant post the link in a debate, then I saved it to my profile in my Note to self section.

Not 'ideal for easy finding, I must admit.

I don’t really care to get feedback from new users that come from a discord server because they are spammed to join. They aren’t fully implemented into forum regulations and voting yet so I think there feedback is a bit misguided. I would like to see them get a bit more adjusted to the site rather than conform to a bunch of discord debaters that really don’t have standards..so I take these with a grain of salt, maybe two or three grains

The sites interface is also perfectly fine for a forum website. Again this is a forum, not a Discord chat. If they have a problem with that…then they have problems with forum websites as a whole

Remind me again, why would we want to make changes to the site based on input from a new user that quit?

What makes you think a new user with little experience using the site is qualified to recommend changes to how the site is run?

I mean, if we want the site to be about max accessibility and as little thought required to interact as possible, then sure some of the criticisms raised by Lucy should be relevant.

A lot of users quit, not just new users. top debaters too. And majority of users historically. But this was already mentioned, so you either didnt read or didnt care.

Well, I fired up the laptop and DebateCraft this morning...And boring.

Will pop over to DebateArt and see if anyone has been active there.

Something I do think, now and then. Is how 'does one get people that will 'stay.

In my view, visibility more than invites.

Maybe, but I think another Chess Guy would be more probable to stay.

But even inviting a Chess Guy, not all Chess Guys are looking for a Chess Night Hangout.

They have their own approaches and niches.

I get your view, if someone hasn't 'actually spent a good amount of time on the site, then they can have a shallow understanding of the site.

Other side of the coin, is how they can inform us on how accessible the website is, or isn't.

Personally I think the biggest flaw of the site currently, is not having momentum.

'Once in motion, I think it'd be a more attractive site, each serious debate getting at least three votes, maybe 10.

Course on another hand,

One persons quit moment, is another person's stay moment.

Niches can be small,

But if you widen a niche too much, it can lose the appeal for it's original audience.

And the audience you are 'trying to capture, maybe doesn't care anyway.

Try new chat feature on debate craft. Work in progress, will get better.

A means of settling dispute with randoms or known people,

Disagree with some fellow in the YouTube comments, how do you two decide who was right?

A DUEL I SAY!

Of reason, rhetoric, and source.

I suppose one could also disagree in Discord, and this site again is the option.

Sure you might judge success on YouTube or Discord by thumbs up of other random or known people,

. . But that's not quality, that's not a voter held accountable or giving 'real feedback.

My vote got deleted twice because I didn't use AI generated filler words. I explained my reasoning in the vote where I believe is wrong or right. Voting is about what side you're on and what you believe. Not about creating essays to dismantle the agruements

User quit the site and server after, but I feel an obligation to copy paste her opinion as feedback for site, because thats what they were. I didnt copy more private messages, so I am not violating privacy.

there is no much point in inviting users if we cant make them stay. And I agree voting system sucks because we are not even getting enough votes from regular users. And new users have great difficulty with voting.

If we make site more difficult to use, less users will stay on site. Its as simple as that.

Yeah, I think its kinda silly the standards for how a debate gets voted on are so inaccessible. Unless you have someone feed you the link you would never know its there and how many people will go hunting and digging for a post they do not even know exists?

Would be positive if such information was tagged into debate signups and such. (Also that rubric's feature of allowing people to move the goalposts mid debate is awful. If you do not have conditions established before starting a debate what you have is a trainwreck imo)
