Lol, you mean schools are like prison in the USA where they "do" the time? I'd take a step back if you think a 2026 degree in the USA teaches normalcy or mostly practical theories. Self-reading will always trump any of that. And you get a lot better sense of normalcy by removing yourself from the normal theory bubbles for experience from time to time. Or be a sheep and call it normal. That's okay too.
Perhaps that which dictates social order and more importantly progress rather than anarchy and chaos, is reliant up on a natural selection of Hitler's, Sub-Hitler's and various tiers of obeyant underlings.
Well one might argue that schools are indeed like prisons, or open prisons...Enforced conditioning of the gullible is essential to achieving a reasonable state of social cohesion...Not so many will go on to self read and question the system...And those that do have little influence over the compliant masses.
Of course, the above is a generalisation based upon longer periods of social stability and doesn't include brief interludes of social unrest and regime change. Nonetheless the outcome of social unrest and change will only seek to re-establish the same system in a slightly different format.

But like you say, human nature never changes, despite how much we overthink and complicate our infrastructure and social fabric.
So I have come to think that there is a higher more subtle level of natural control that exceeds even the autocrat and their subalterns.
