Bruh it feels like there's a new UI every time I log in. I'll probably look on my lunch break and it'll be completely different again.
It's good so far. Tho I still miss comment bubbles like there are on tik tok in messages. I think it's important because especially on phone its easier to read text in bubble. It acts as some sort of signal to the brain which separates one comment from another quickly.
The more new things site has, the better in my opinion. Cuz it's "new" which creates happiness and excitement. Keeping things always same is boring.
"New = good" is not a universal feeling, and the rate of changes being made makes it impossible to determine if any of these changes are doing anything.
Make a change - wait a few weeks (unless bugs need fixing) and see how people like it. Adjust. Wait a few weeks. Adjust. Rinse and repeat until things are just right.
Hmmmm, I tend to just use the forum, and in all honesty the previous much simpler format was functionally better for me.
Nonetheless, well done for all the time and effort you put in to keep this site up and running.

I partially agree that there shouldn't be too many new things at once. However, "new" is a condition for happiness. So yes, we need "new" things, and I am happy that it finally happens. As an expert in all psychology, I am quite aware that all human experiences are divided into two categories: "New", and "same old". If person keeps experiencing same over and over, like listening to same song constantly, it becomes incredibly boring. It's the "new" which brings happiness, while "same old" brings less and less joy each time. So yes, I am all for new things, because that's where the fun begins.

I already got complaints from new members before about site being poorly designed, so yeah, I am afraid this new design was more than necessary. Now it looks more like a professional design and less like forum from 2008. Of course, there are few more new changes I want to see, mainly the bubbles around text to make text easier to read. Design is actually crucial, and while I agree that simple design has its merits, it only works if it is also visually appealing. I don't think old design was visually appealing at all. More simple, sure, but at same time terribly outdated. It's gonna take some time to get used to this new change, but that's better than keeping same old design forever.
And also, if anyone has ideas about new changes in design, please suggest them. Merely saying that you liked old design more isn't enough, cuz we are not going back to 2008 design, just to be clear. I don't even think these changes in design change any specific function of site. It's just same forum with different look.

There's a reason why literally any online platform and any live service game has time periods between patches before any new adjustments are made that range from a few weeks to months - they look to actually check the results of their work and see if the changes they implemented made things better or worse. We're a smaller site so we probably don't need months between patches, but at least give things a couple weeks for people to see what's different and get a feel for how the changes impact their use.

There is actually no person who thinks "new is always bad". Even old people do new things from time to time. It's the "new" which creates excitement and happiness. Doing same thing over and over means no excitement, and is a quite straight path to depression. So yes, as a universal expert in psychology and a long term patient too, I speak with full authority on this issue.

it's been a month since my last logged in and this site has changed a lot.
It looks good, I feel as if I wanted to stay here chatting all day long.
Redesigning for the sake of redesign, wherein visuality takes precedence over functionality doesn't improve the actual discussion experience...For me, the DebateCraft experience is now frustrating and the fundamental necessity of a discussion site has been obscured in a fog of unnecessary triviality...Change for the sake of change is not necessarily for the better.
We might want to keep new design but make it more simple then?
Also, I think design is still gonna get improved. This is just start, not permanent.
Personally I'm loving all of the changes to the site so far! I would like to see the voting system be touched up to clean up the back log a bit. Absurdly long voting periods of multiple months could be removed and it could be made so debates close when a super majority of 2/3 votes is reached.
Also can we please make the blue of the logo match the banner at the top I've lost sleep over that
