Gun use comparison in the U.S.: Human death, Target shooting, Hunting Statistics

I have collected 2021 data detailing gun use to kill humans [non-military], target shooting, and hunting. The results are revealing:

Kill humans** [non military] 46,091 43.74%

Target shooting 46,900 44.51%

Hunting 12,386 11.75%

Total: 105,371 100.00%


Results: more people engage in target shooting than by both other activities, individually, and more people engage in the two peaceful activities of target shooting and hunting than by killing humans.

This means that more people would loose their right to "keep and bear arms" by the 2nd amendment. Therefore, by strict adherence to democracy, a minority of people would cause the inconvenience of loss of a guaranteed constitutional right to the majority by banning all guns, which denial is a constitutional violation by denial of the root effect of democracy: majority rule.


*It must be acknowledged that there are other uses of guns than the three activities noted, such as ownership, but non-use, which has no statistic that could be found. Also, some gun owners engage ownership for self-defense, and while there are statistics of defensive gun use engaging an agressor, it is unknown how many have guns for this purpose, but never engage the actual self-defense need. Two of the three uses noted are the two highest percentage of known actual use: Target shooting and killing humans. Known engaged gun use for self-defense ranks in the 30th percentile of gun ownership for that purpose, but the actual count of that activity was not reported.


**"Kill humans" means intent to shoot and kill.


I apologize that the statistics above are difficult to read. When writing the post, I used tabs to separate columns, but the columns don't translate the formatting when posted. Why not???

According to your data Hunting would be the only justification for gun ownership because it has the lowest count of human death.

Gun ban is one of rare things I agree with in Australia, and in Japan guns are banned but Japan is best country on Earth probably. Majority of people are retarded, and its truly better that they dont have guns. there are many replacements for guns, such as tasers, which I dont exactly approve of, but tasers at least make cops less trigger happy with guns.

Nope. The data I collected says nothing about the frequency of human death by either hunting or target practice. My suspicion is that hunting has a higher death rate [accidental] than target shooting. the data I reported is just numbers of people who own guns tied to those activities, and not that all of them may have human deaths among them. I'm counting numbers of people who own guns and use them for the various activities to explain the the 2A is not a viable target for reversal.

Let’s read the actual stats on gun related deaths. In 2023 the US saw 46,728 deaths with suicides making up the majority (58%) followed by homicides (38%) and smaller numbers from law enforcement, accidents or undetermined causes according to CDC data. This figure averages to one death every 11 minutes , with significant impact on communities making firearm a major health issue, especially impacting youth.
