I used to love dogs and I still like spending time with them if they’re well behaved but I f****** hate modern dog culture. The furbaby thing thing is extremely real and it’s caused dog behavior to get totally out of control. Idk I mean I am a softy with my dog so I’m probably part of the problem too. But as a kid I really do not remember stuff like the dogs stealing food from people, or the dogs demanding attention to the point that they bark so much that the people struggle to talk. Or the dog having to come along on a social visit at all. Behaviors I see ALL THE TIME now to the point that I just don’t even want to be around them.
There’s also been an increase in pit bull and pit mixes which living in a nice suburban area I honestly view as the greatest danger to my kids because people who are clearly not prepared to handle those dogs adopt them all the time. I’ve personally been chased away from the local park by a snarling pitbull that got loose, growling at me and baring its teeth for the crime of walking. No collar of course and no owner in site. I’m not really a gun person but I’ve seriously considered carrying solely because I think these disgusting animals are a legitimate threat and they’re only increasing in number
I feel sorry for pits tbh. We exploitatively bred them to be the way they are, and now we malign them for it. Not their fault they were made for blood sport and now are expected to act like perfect pets.
Even humans are not excused for failing to adapt.

The best way I found to scare off fkn dogs is to pretend you're picking a stone from the ground and throw it at them. I did it with the dog that bit me ad tried to bite me again along with the other dogs that were with him. It worked nicely. Though, I don't kwow how it would be with violent dog races like pitbull and rodweiler. I heard a wooden stick is very good to defend yourself from these kind of dogs but in my case it's not necessary since I don't live in a place where people have that kind of dogs. In urban areas people have small and medium dogs.
