So out of curiosity and I have no clue if I will get many answers, but does anyone like to grill anything in particular. I bought a charcoal grill and I love it, but I am having a lot of people tell me that I would regret not getting a gas grill. I thought charcoal gives better flavor. Are they saying this out of convince? lol I have no clue if anyone grills on here so this might be a dead in the water post lol!

There's no way you could have known this, but you happen to be in the presence of BBQ greatness, known worldwide as the King of Baby Back Ribs, the BBQ Chicken Guru, the Grand Master of Steaks, and the Hamburger Wizard.

So, I don't think the flavor difference, if any, is worth the greater difficulty. A gas grill gives you greater flexibility in terms of timing, in terms of heat control, it's cheaper in the long run, and you will use a gas grill much more often. It's just not worth the trouble to use charcoal for a couple lunch hot dogs.

Flavor is enhanced with charcoal or wood, but propane is quicker. I have a smoker/charcoal grill and a propane griddle. They all get used and have their purposes. It has a lot to do with preferences and priorities for a specific meal.

I may buy both eventually. I ended up getting a charcoal because I read somewhere that the flavor was better. Granted I wouldn’t know. I had a family member who use to grill and it tasted chemically lol

Yea! Honestly I thought about getting a griddle as well. I’ve also seen people use wood pellets. I don’t have any idea how that works. I am pretty good with my with my new charcoal grill. Well for a newbie lol! My family wasn’t that good at cooking so I was scared to get gas. Granted they weren’t too good at cooking on the house either lol! Granted I was thankful to be fed everyday. Some people aren’t that lucky.

Depends where you live.

In mid Wales barbecue season is short and opportunities weather limited so the occasional charcoal barbecue is all that is necessary...Actually though if you consider the reality of the exercise then it is becomes an unnecessary waste of time, that encourages over indulgence of too much meat and alcohol, when all that you perhaps need is one burger and some salad that can be prepared in the kitchen in 10 minutes and then taken outside for consumption, which will take less than 10 minutes...At the end of the day it's just another marketing ploy that encourages you to spend money on something that you don't actually need...So my advice would be, by a cheap barbecue and a bag of charcoal from less than £30 from the supermarket, then in a year or two's time when you're clearing out the shed, you won't feel too bad when you decide to take the barbecue to the tip for recycling.

lol I got an inexpensive charcoal but it won’t be a waste for me. I like to cook and I host a decent amount of family cookouts. I also live in Alabama in the U.S., so food is everything. I would be fat if I didn’t exercise religiously lol!
