Why? Use of firearms is not required for something to be considered an insurrection. Plus, there were firearms AND other weapons which were used.

doesn’t erase my point. If the people were interested in committing an insurrection, they would have pulled their firearms. It was a simply a riot that got out of hand.

The rioters intent was insurrection to stop the certification of the election results led by Trump who refused to accept he lost to Biden.
