Trump is now touting higher gas prices as a good thing because the energy industry (and Donald Trump) are generating massive profits from the Iran War.

At his rally in GA yesterday Trump said, "My people said, 'Please don't mention that, sir,' because people are paying a little higher... I said, 'I don't give a damn. I'm going to say it. We're making a freaking fortune.'"

When Trump says "we" are making a freaking fortune, he is being literal. The Congressional Joint Economic Committee released data on Trump's oil and gas stocks this week. According to the report β€œIn 2026, over 94% of his oil and gas stock purchases occurred after Trump started his war in Iran. In total, from March 2026 through August 2026, Trump purchased as much as $17.5 million worth of oil and gas stocks.” The report states that "Trump's oil and gas stocks have added $35.8 million to his personal wealth since the war began.

This is nothing compared to the billions his family has made off the war by trading in the prediction markets. Trump has declared the Iran war won, nearly over, or that a deal was imminent at least 38 times since he began the war, Trump's sons have been very good at trading in the prediction markets, it's almost like they always know what Trump is going to say about the war before he says it.

Silly us, we all though he had no reason to start the war with Iran, it turns out there are billions of reasons for it.

High gas prices help to combat climate change

It's better if the high price comes from taxes on gas though, cause then the money can actually be spent on things. If something gets harder to produce, there is more deadweight loss.

USA isn't makeing a lot of money on the high prices if they keep shutting down refineries.
