Is the blue state/red state theory of superior education real, or an illusion?

Education is declining in America. Americans are now recognized by the colour of their state and not by their character.

And even color of state is a myth. There is no state, blue or red, that has not been the other color at least once.

I've heard that Red states tend to be more rural, I'd imagine that might have an impact on education.

Maybe rural kids were/are more likely to have chores, less likely to have as much internet.

Maybe homeschooling, small schools, certain curriculums differ rural vs city.

Then education is in your future. First lesson is this: education of blue state superiority is a myth because there is no blue or red state that has note been at one time, or several times, the other color. All states have been blue and red. Get it?

See my comment #3, and #7. That's the bottom line relative to education superiority, among other subjects. For example: my personal formal education, grade school through graduate school, was in a blue state and a red state and a blue state. All states were CA. Exception, I did 1.5 years of undergrad work in another red state and blue state. Both those states were UT.

The education superiority myth of any state is a myth. And, why not? Politics, in the end, is a fickle science at best.

Remember that if a professor said that you were the dumbest student he ever had, you can still be President of the USA.

If one is choosing socialism, that's a clear indicator of one's intelligence.

Also, Democrats still believe in merit based on skin color. That's another red flag.

I would guess that the quality or methodology of a State educational system, is always relevant to the educational policies of the incumbent authoritative body.

Notwithstanding that, certain States and established communities within States, will undoubtedly have different aspirational approaches to a child's education. Though Blue and Red is perhaps not always a good indicator of a States aspirations given the contrived nature of the U.S. voting system. So it's perhaps best to only look at the educational output of longstanding Blue and Red allegiances, when making such comparisons.

So I'm further guessing that there maybe an element of fact to be found in the theory, and also that your personal political allegiances might cloud your judgement a tad...Hence the reason for this thread...When I read the title, I guessed the author was Fauxlaw.

I am anticipating that when the Dept. of Education is eliminated as a federal factor in education, returning it to state and local control, the primary cause of this myth will be gone within a generation.

Well, one would assume that if a National system of control is replaced by an independent State system then you will end up with 50 separate standards of education...Though I suppose that politically States will still to identify as Blue or Red, and therefore the myth or truth will still persist.

Hey, look, boyo. We didn't have a federal agency called the Department of Education until that dufus Carter decided to federalize it in 1979, taking the control of education out of local hands. Yes, we did have differences in standards, then, but, the per casita education success across the coy try was far better than it is, now. Virtually everyone who graduated from high school was literate, even in the inners cities. I was already out of formal, post-grad education by then, so I remember well what Trump is trying to restore. Learn some real history, my friend and don't knock it trying to hold on to illiteracy evident now.

Either you have state autonomy or you do not. If states want to tailor their education to match the local culture, geography, and economy, that falls in line with state autonomy. The one-size-fits-all doctrine has had detrimental effects, trying to capture all those individual aspects of all 50 states that are usually not relevant to an individual's home state. You end up with curriculum bloat and confusion. And that's before we assume a central plan isn't prone to corruption and overspending. There were multiple failure points with the USDOE.

For example: if you live in a state where the economy is strongly driven by illegal labor, your individual school will want to push "diversity" and "cultural awareness" to prepare students for the local slave wage-driven economy.

In a state with fewer illegal laborers, this is just a waste of class time.

Four very stark differences between conditions now, and 60 years ago before Carter messed up local education:

1. We did not have the invasion of illegal migrants that has been allowed to invade our borders.
2. We were taught the Constitution, and knew that the reconstruction amendments, 13, 14, 15, effectively. legally [though failed socially] to abolish slavery and its effects.
3. We did not, by wokeness, identify ourselves by the attitudes and group-think of socialism. We were individuals, then.
4. We graduated elementary school, let alone high school, literate.

None of those conditions exist today. Further, We have [other than the woke] learned that there is no genetic basis for race, at all. None. Not a single gene of our complex genome represents our clearly visibly differing features. We have known that by the Human Genome Project, which concluded 22 years ago, but the woke qarer still asleep and still do not get it.

So I concluded that the theory was valid and standards would inevitably be variable from State to State relative to a variety of factors.

And that "illusion" was something of a typical Faux dig at Democratic policy.

Regardless, that is my takes on it. Hymn book? Why is religion used as a decoy? Fifty people with differing opinions, but with open minds can still find ways to agree, or do you think, like Dr. Franklin, that as soon as "religion" is mentioned, even as a cultural joke, all tune-in, turn-on, and drop out? It's easy to malign religion, and religious people as ignorable heretics as if even considering the possibility of a higher power than ours is not only possible, but probable, as ontological argument insists. The strength of civilization allows its place in the marketplace of ideas.

Well, metaphorically there can be more than one hymn book.

So one would hope that most Americans are united in the basic concept of Americanism, though one would never assume that they will always agree with each other...Blue or Red is a division based loosely on similarities, dissimilarities and historical allegiances.
