Italians aren't that type of Catholic. They love the saints and angels but a lot of them distrust Church authority, and italian men are kinda known for being lax on attending Mass.
Us Irish on the other hand...now we like our clergy members.

Irish people get more mad if you insult their mother than if a Catholic Priest rapes a child. They are the most, "Out of sight, out of mind" people out there.
I can definitely see that with the mother but any other family member and we wouldn't care. Look at how the brothers in my PFP acted towards each other, Noel even said he'd give up his mother before his career.
The Irish are not at all like the ethnic "in our culture we care about extended family!" trope. I'd actually say we are actually colder than anglo-saxons.

I don't care if you care about your extended family. But have limits to it. You can be emotionally mad if someone r@ped your mother; but if someone insults your mother (with words), then grow up! Accept the disrespect! It's words. Get over it!
