we already know that more educated and wealthier people vote democrat. we know that trump supporters are prone to being lower information voters. we know just by virtue of IQ distributions that half are below average intelligence and at least a third are genuinely dumb as rocks. what about the educated well informed ones? i think they are mostly people who are genuinely conservative and dont like the guy much but go along with it given general ideology alliances. we know a third of the population never waivers in their support for him. we know half the population might be willing to vote for him. we know he's not popular any more and the most approval he's ever got is half the population to approve of him. that portion who might vote for him or be there when his approval ratings have risen, beyond his solid base, are probably low information people who dont know much about our government or the real world. that third that never waivers then, are probaby a subset, ten percent dumb as rocks, ten percent very low infoamtion, and ten percent who just go along with him cause they are generally conservative. so what we might also say, is only ten percent of people aren't low information and maybe educated, that still reluctantly approve of the guy. not too many well informed and educated people happily approve of him or are big supporters. it's fair to say trump's base of approval is a pretty big dumpster fire.

Perhaps you should ask a Democrat for help formatting your post.

You are answering your own question.

Imagine a BLM activist asked, "Out of NY state; are BLM supporters more likely to be in Harlem or Staten Island?" You already know the answer, so there is no point in asking.

One of the biggest problems we have in American politics is the total asymmetry between the standards that are applied to both political parties. Republicans have for decades now championed the "government is the problem" mantra. The issue is that when you campaign on being anti-government, that doesn't leave you much room once you become the government to accomplish anything and declare victory. No, as a republican your only option politically is to break things, that's antithetical to the entire point of government.

So when this is the divide between the two parties, it turns out to be terrible for the country but great for republicans politically. As the burn-it-down party there is no expectation on them to fix anything, that expectation falls entirely onto the democrats. So democrats end up being held to account for everything they did or didn't do, while republicans get to win elections by default.

How many times this past election did we hear that people were voting for Trump, not because they had any reason to believe he could fix our problems but because democrats didn't do enough to fix them. That's the way this works, democrats have to earn your vote. Republicans just get to sit back and enjoy it if the democrats failed to impress.

So the point of a government is to take away personal freedom, choices, and liberty? Not say...preserve it?

No one said anything like that. Please do me a favor, if you're going to quote and respond to my posts, read them first.

The point of government is to be the means by which society comes together to solve it's problems. Ensuring freedom, choices, and liberty is part of that.

I suppose that's one of many reasons why your country is in such crisis. Individuals solve problems, not overcompensated figureheads.

There's one party whose famous line of reasoning is to "never let a good crisis go to waste."

I see on your news that your president is trying to solve a lot of problems using armed troops. This is the example I am talking about when individuals don't care about taking individual action against crime and waiting around for someone else to solve individual problems. When those soldiers are gone, who is going to take care of your family? Who is going to really keep you safe?

If you think the solution to your problems is a different figurehead with troops, then you are a perfect candidate for throwing your life away for their cause. The world is littered with graves filled with people who trusted the government over themselves. The world already has a serious problem with instant validation through social media, where individuals believe total strangers care about them and will help "solve their problems." Extending that power to even more distant bureaucrats is a one-way ticket to that worldwide grave.

Individuals solve individual problems. That's what the free market is for. But the free market is not going to solve society's issues, in fact it's often the free market that creates them. If not for government what reason would a factory have to refrain from polluting the towns drinking water to save on waste management? If not for government who would ensure we all have access to roads, clean water, a safety net to curb homelessness, etc.? Obviously no one because these issues aren't profitable to solve. That's the point.

This was a line said by one person over 15 years ago, and expresses an approach both parties clearly take. It's clear this is not an attempt at a good faith argument.

Who is sitting around waiting for others to "solve crime"? Do you really think this is a simple issue to fix?

When those soldiers are gone, who is going to take care of your family? Who is going to really keep you safe?

The same people doing so before. Sending troops into an American city isn't a solution to crime, it's a dog and pony show. If that were the solution we would have troops on every street corner in America, which would obviously be ridiculous.

If Trump wanted to solve crime he would work with the mayors and governors to understand and address is root cause, not put on a pathetic show of force to make himself look tough. Or hell, the the least he would put them where the crime is actually happening, not on the downtown tourist area. This is so obviously a power play to show his dominance.

If you think the solution to your problems is a different figurehead with troops, then you are a perfect candidate for throwing your life away for their cause.

The solution is to elect political leaders who actually care about solving problems, not ego maniacal narcissists whose sole qualifier is a child like fixation of owning the libs.

Again, while democrats are not perfect, at least they care about solving problems. The republican party has nothing to offer other than ensuring government is broken just so they could point to that as their reason for opposing it. It's a self fulfilling prophecy, and as long as the people remain dumb enough to fall for it we get the government we deserve.

Admittedly, I don't know that much about your parties, but you and I both agree that they never let a good crisis go to waste, which means it will be impossible to find the kind of person you are looking for to abdicate your personal responsibility to.

The phrase "never let a good crisis go to waste" isn't saying "let's create chaos so we can capitalize" - that would be conspiracy. The phrase is saying that when a crisis occurs, use that moment to actualize what you believe in. Honestly, that's common sense. After Sandy hook democrats saw an opening to push for gun reform, so they did. For right wingers, they still talk about Laken Riley like she's the only woman in America.

It sounds bad to say out loud, so it works wonders to rile up uneducated people. People who are educated understand that this is expressing nothing more than politics 101.

And when they believe in power, it explains why the feudal lords will perpetuate the conditions for a crisis. It keeps the serfs powerless and dependent. I have no doubt your president will let all those illegal criminals back into your country if it means more power.

Ok, so you're a conspiracy theorist. Got it.

I have no doubt about that either, because he has demonstrated himself to be a particularly horrendous human being who only cares about himself.
