The “Left” did not assassinate Charlie Cook, it was an inside job.

To everyone left and right, the assassination of Charlie Cook is a tragedy, but to Trump, it’s a welcomed opportunity to invoke anger and deepen the divide in the “us/them” siege mentality he has created. He is exploiting the opportunity, for his two favorite things, money and revenge, he is raking in unorecedented donations and he’s vowing to go after “the radical left”, and “groups that contributed to this atrocity and other political violence”. This assassin played right into Trump’s little hands, and Trump will use his violent rhetoric to insure the violence increases, and that it is aimed at his opponents.

There has been a lot of condemnation of those who are cheering it, but frankly, I haven’t actually seen anyone cheering or gloating about this. There has certainly been nothing like the joyous celebrational way that Trump and his MAGA followers responded to the maniac who tried to kill Nancy Pelosi’s husband with a hammer, there has been no jubilant reveling with mocking conspiracies about nudity and gay lovers. The MAGA insistence that the left is cheering Charlie Kirk’s death is about like Trump’s assertion that he saw Muslims in the streets of New York cheering the 911 disaster, a typical MAGA lie to create outrage at the people they hate.

Biden, Obama, both Bush’s, Clinton, all of our previous presidents would be consoling the country and presenting a healing, unifying message, but Trump lacks the empathy to even understand anything less anger and hatred, and the only thing he knows how to express his vow to go after the "radical left.", he wants to be seen as a warrior, not a conciliator, he’s a populist, and populists dwell on anger, Trump crafts his follower’s rage like an artist, and he sees Charlie Kirks death as an opportunity, nothing more.

We are told “the radical left” killed Charlie Kirk, and Trump and his MAGA people are vowing violent revenge against the “groups” on the left who are responsible. This is all predictable, and it is a bald-faced lie. The assassin, Tyler Robinson was not a democrat, he has never had any affiliation with any left “groups”, he has registered as unaffiliated, hasn’t voted, but friends and neighbors say they thought he was an avowed Trump supporter. In 2017 he dressed as Trump for Halloween, and his grandmother has said that the entire family are Republican, and that they don’t even know a single democrat.

Tyler Robinson’s hatred and violence were developed in the pressure cooker of right-wing vitriol of their own self-created media echo chamber; he lived in lie-filled and toxic MAGA universe and that is what killed Charlie Kirk, the left had nothing to do with it.

This horrible act, and many others like it, are a direct result of the hate mongering and violent rhetoric that the right has been engaging in for years now. Trump and his far-right fascist allies have worked hard to empower and normalize a dangerous set of antisocial, anti-civil, retrograde and anti-democratic values and beliefs, creating an environment where political violence is seen as an acceptable way to accomplish ideological goals. His speech condemning the killing of Charlie Kirk, was the ultimate hypocrisy from the man who sent his followers on a murderous rampage into the capital on Jan 6th, calling them heroes, patriots, and of course pardoning all of them while characterizing their vicious attack as a day of love.

In the sharp difference in his response to the killing of Charlie Kirk and Melissa Hortman, he is explicitly encouraged the public to apply a partisan lens to the value of human life. He has excused right wing terrorism as justified because it is “fighting crime” and called on his base to avenge Kirk’s death with violence against the left. In context, it’s easy to see how right-wing extremists could reasonably expect political violence against the left to be appreciated and even pardoned.

The dramatic increase in political violence is a direct result of Trump’s vitriolic rhetoric and glorification of violence. That is what killed Charlie Kirk, it was not the “left”, it was Donald Trump and his MAGA movement.

BTW, both of the assassination attempts on Trump were by Republicans.

It is also a lie that the left tried to kill Trump.

It's not a lie to say the left celebrated Kirk's death and were also sad when they discovered the Trump bullet missed.

Who did it is inconsequential. Like Jan6, it doesn't matter if insiders started the violence, people radically cheering the destruction of the government are the problem.

Most Americans say it's unacceptable to be happy about public figures' deaths, but younger and more liberal Americans are more likely to call it acceptable

18 percent of liberals, 7 percent of conservatives, and 6 percent of moderates said violence is sometimes justified to achieve political goals.

That makes your left population more dangerous than the population of moderates and rights combined.

I am not saying you are part of the 18 percenters, but statistically it's very possible.

It is absolutely a lie to say, "the left celebrated Kirk's death", a handful of internet whack jobs gloated, sure, but to say that represents the left would be like looking at RemyBrown's posts and saying that is what the "right" says.

Who did it is inconsequential.

I know that to MAGA, it is inconsequential, that was my point, they are going to blame left wing extremists because that is the lie they want to tell. It was not the left that killed Charlie Kirk, it was MAGA.

Like Jan6, it doesn't matter if insiders started the violence, people radically cheering the destruction of the government are the problem.

I'd say the POTUS is the ultimate insider, and yes, Trump started the violence and they violently tried to bring about the destruction of democracy that day, and MAGA has been cheering the destruction of our democratic system of government ever since, and yes, that is the problem.

Are you telling me that a far-right pollster like Stephan Shakespeare supports the MAGA lies, really?

Gee whiz, maybe we should double check this at Infowars and Breitbart to verify it.

Well, we could always ask the shooter's trans ex-boyfriend, I guess. And pretty sure the pollster was David Montgomery, Senior data journalist.

Feel free to look under that hood.

Bullshit, you say who perpetrates the violence is inconsequential, but polls are not? I'm sorry pumpkin, the fact that it was someone from the right that killed Charlie Kirk does not mean the left is more dangerous.

The fact that both assassination attempts on Trump were by Republicans is not inconsequential, and it does not mean the left is violent.

This web site can tell you about where I am on the political spectrum.

The Lincoln Project

MAGA is not Republican, it is Fascist.

If the fact that I am prepared to fight and die to protect my country from a violent Fascist takeover means I'm one who justifies political violence, so fucking what.

Hitler wasn't the problem, it was all of the allies and resistance fighters in World War II who justified violence to achieve political goals, they were the problem.

fascism = government + corporate power fused together. That’s literally Washington, D.C. lobby culture.

I thought MAGA started in 2016 not 1970's when K street started to become a real thing... and are your MAGAites really pro lobbies? For sure, that would make them fascists.

I don't think the "Left" killed Charlie Kirk, but I don't really agree with the claims that the "Right" killed Charlie Kirk either.

The divisive state of politics doesn't seem ideal, but I don't think a clear causation can be seen with it and Charlie Kirks death.

In 2017 he dressed as Trump for Halloween, and his grandmother has said that the entire family are Republican, and that they don’t even know a single democrat.

You're ignoring a lot of the newer reports...his mother said he became "more pro-gay and trans-rights-oriented" and I think she would know better than his grandmother. Then there are the texts he sent to his apparently trans lover saying that he had "enough of Kirk's hatred."

Now, maybe the prosecutors just fabricated a bunch of texts to score a short-term political win at the cost of getting the case dismissed, and maybe Tyler's mother is just lying. But if most of this is true, I have a hard time seeing Tyler being closer to the right than the left. There are pro-trans people on the right, and there are people on the right who don't like Kirk. But of highly-political pro-trans people who believe that Kirk specifically is full of hate and would shoot a right-wing figure, I suspect that more of them are closer ideologically to Democrats than Republicans.

When Trump got Stephen Colbert pulled off the air for being critical of Trump, he vowed that Jimmy Kimmel would be next.

Well, he got him, Jimmy Kimmel has been canceled, Trump got him pulled off the air for saying what I'm saying .

Here is what Jimmy Kimmel said:

"The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving,” he added.

The Trump fascist state has arrived, Trump can now freely silence his critics, there are no more 1st Amendment rights.

He has exploited the killing of Charlie Kirk to declare war on his opponents.

Trump is the one celebrating Kirk's murder.

MAGA is rejoicing in the gift of Charlie Kirk's death.

Tyler Robinson has become MAGA's hero.

Trump is the one celebrating Kirk's murder.

Since you brought up celebration again, I'll respond to your claim that you "haven’t actually seen anyone cheering or gloating about this." I won't claim to know what you saw or didn't, but there are definitely people on the left gloating about Kirk being dead and calling for violence. See here. I'm not claiming this is a majority of the left, but these people exist.

Good point, I'm old and sometimes I forget, and use "left" and "right" in the traditional sense of referring to political ideologies.

Back in the day, when you said "left and right" you weren't talking about race, sexual orientation, and gender identity, you were talking about politics, you know, things like the role of government, the economy, foreign policy, that kind of stuff.

Back then we used "left" and "right in the exchange ideas about political ideology, it was a lot more than a matter of who you hate. Believe it or not, there were gay people in both political parties, so things like sexual orientation didn't determine whether or not you were left or right.

All of those things are related to political issues. Affirmative action, women's sports, cakes for gay weddings, etc. Those are hot button issues. You claimed the dude was Republican, which the current evidence strongly suggests he is not.

the role of government, the economy, foreign policy, that kind of stuff

Well you didn't bring any of this up in your initial post, so if this is all that counts as politics, how did you conclude Robinson is right wing?

Yeah, I already acknowledged that "a handful of internet whack jobs gloated", but the core of bigotry is to negatively characterize a group based on the actions of a few, or even an individual. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I'm saying it is not representative of the "left".

By the way, do you have any proof that the people gloating were gay, trans, or black? If not, then how do you know they are from the left?

The comments were on Bluesky and they were calling for right wing figures to be killed. One of the usernames was "ACAB." Also, I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by assuming all black people are on the left.

the role of government, the economy, foreign policy, that kind of stuff
Okay, so how did the "right" kill Kirk? Was he assassinated for his foreign policy views? For his opinion on the economy? Why would a right-wing person kill Kirk for holding largely similar views on those issues?

I already explained that, Tyler Robinson lived in a republican community, in a republican family, he is immersed in the MAGA echo chamber of hatred, vitriol, and violence, it was probably MAGA's vicious dehumanizing of the alternative lifestyle of his relationship put him over the edge. Whatever put him over the edge, I'm certain this tragedy would never have happened if he didn't live in the MAGA universe of violence and intolerance.

So the reasoning is that if the election had gone the other way, Kirk would not have been assassinated? That just admits that the murder was an act of political terrorism.
