AI can already use copyrighted works, as long as it's done with fair use. so it can and does even summarize copyrighted works. though with that said, sometimes it blurs the line of what is legally permissible and over reach. and that's a fact, that legal experts is the state of AI vis a vis copy righted material .
While there is ongoing legal debate, AI cannot use copyrighted material in a way that infringes copyright, though its ability to use copyrighted material for training is contested. AI-generated output may not be copyrightable if a human is not involved, and using copyrighted material to train AI models may be a copyright violation, as per court rulings and legal experts. However, a human's creative input in using an AI to generate new work may result in the output being protected, but the AI-generated portions themselves are not.
What is your opinion on using copyrighted works to train ai?
Anything which improves artificial intelligence is justified, so that AI can replace us quicker.
