Gay men feel hopeless.

Abortion is just terrible. I don't see how someone can logically look at unborn 5 minutes before birth, and 5 minutes after birth, and say that in second case, it is human life which needs to be protected, and it is great evil to kill it, and anyone who does so is monster, and in first case say all opposite of that.

Gay men do not murder their unborn children. Liberal women often do.

Hey, whatever floats your boat.

Some of them use IVF, which can involve destroying embryos.

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is an advanced fertility treatment where eggs are fertilized by sperm in a lab ("in glass") to create embryos, which are then transferred to the uterus for pregnancy, bypassing natural conception issues like blocked tubes or male infertility, involving ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, lab fertilization, embryo culture, and transfer, offering high success rates but requiring time and expense, with options for genetic testing and freezing surplus embryos for later use.

The IVF Process (Step-by-Step)

  1. Ovarian Stimulation: Medications are used to encourage ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs.

  2. Egg Retrieval: A minor procedure to collect mature eggs from the ovaries.

  3. Fertilization: Eggs are combined with sperm in a lab dish.

  4. Embryo Culture: Fertilized eggs (embryos) grow in the lab for several days.

  5. Embryo Transfer: One or more embryos are placed into the uterus via a thin tube.

  6. Freezing: Extra viable embryos can be frozen (cryopreserved) for future attempts.

Who Uses IVF?

  1. Women with blocked or damaged fallopian tubes.
  2. Men with severe sperm issues.
  3. Women with endometriosis or diminished ovarian reserve.
  4. Older women (≥38).
  5. When other treatments fail, or for genetic screening (PGT).

Key Considerations

  1. Success Rates: Highly effective but depend on age, cause of infertility, and other factors.

  2. Cost: Can be expensive, with costs varying by location and services needed.

  3. Risks: Potential for multiple pregnancies (twins, etc.), Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS).

  4. Alternatives: Can involve donor eggs, sperm, or embryos, or a gestational carrier

I believe gay men are more likely to do IVF per capita since they can't have biological children otherwise. Yeah they also adopt, but your original post is just making negative generalizations based on stereotypes; obviously if you introduce nuance the whole analysis falls apart.

Most of the population is straight (like 98-99% of couples). So per capita same-sex couples do IVF more.

Men don't get pregnant Remy.

Didn't you pay attention in biology lessons?

Nonetheless, voluntary abortion is an effective solution to a perceived problem.

And it's rather hypocritical of a variably moral species to suggest otherwise.

I bet my 7 year old cousin that died from leukemia wished he had been aborted.

I mean I'd rather just speak in the abstract than use a personal example that could offend you, but generally, I would say that having 7 years of life is preferable to having 0 years of life. I don't think that dying at 7 is preferable to dying at 14, or that dying at 14 is preferable to dying at 21. So by the same token I think being alive for 7 years is better than living for 0. And while I can't speak definitively for other individuals, I think that the vast majority of lives are preferable to nonexistence, hence why most people have an aversion to dying, and why even suicidal people often decide they don't actually want to die after therapy.

that entirely depends on quality of life. It is generally better to die instantly than spend an hour dying in terrible pain.

Yeah but I addressed that right after the part you're quoting. Most people don't want to kill themselves, even people with cancer. And those that do want to can usually be talked out of it with therapy.

Most people dont represent all people or all situations, or best wants. If I ever get reduced to being unable to move and unable to talk, just shoot me in the head. Dont sustain me pointlessly. You are not doing me a favor there. I will not be grateful.

I was the chief engineer at a manufacturing company that went bankrupt so I lost my pension. I wish I had been aborted.

Okay but you would still rather exist than not exist, because here you are. Like you still eat/choose to continue living which I would agree is a logical thing to do.

Yeah but this was never about all people, just assuming what a person would want. So most is a good enough proxy. Also most "locked in" patients report being happy, contrary to common intuition.

I don't see how that connects to wanting to keep living but still thinking nonexistence is better than existing.

This is the correct answer to this retarded, emo antinatalism. "The Simplest Argument To Refute A Moral Nihilist Is To Kill Them" joke can also be applied to antinatalism - every second of their choosing existence is a refutation of the idea that nonexistence is preferable to existence, just as any appeal to a higher principle to prevent their own murder on the part of the moral nihilist is a refutation of moral nihilism.

Zygotes get naturally aborted on a regular basis.

We kill millions of living organisms on a daily basis.

But your propensity for moral selectivity allows you to make a song and dance about one organisms choice to not have a child.

Such is the benefit of overthink.

It is only good enough proxy if you assume wants of most outweight wants of few in all possible cases, even in cases where wants of most are irrelevant. If person has "do not revive" writing with them, you do not revive them. Simple.

if you assume wants of most outweighs wants of few in all possible cases...if person has "do not revive" writing with them

No, we're discussing a case where we have no idea what the individual would want and we have to guess (unborn child, kid with cancer who has not expressed a desire to die).
