There was no lawfare in the last administration. Trump committed serious and obvious crimes. The evidence is not rationally disputable, and the public interest in prosecuting them is clear. But propaganda doesn’t care about any of that. Just focus on the fact that he was a former president, and if a former president gets prosecuted then it’s lawfare. Logic be dammed. Facts be dammed.
Then, once you clear that hurdle of convincing people of the absurd, you no longer need to appeal to people by offering them a worthwhile vision. Just paint yourself as being better than the monster you concocted, and you’re home free to do all of the things you just finished convincing them was bad cause the other guy did it.
