Thank you for validating the OP with the predicted response. So much for free will.

Centuries of philosophical debate ended with a meme reply.

No, you validated the OP.

I mean, to directly quote the OP:

If I make a point they can't refute, then they insult me, "racist, xenophobe, creep, or something else" to maintain their sense of pride,

Sooo....were you insulted by me saying "lmao"...?

I hope. I heard someone say, "MAGA is dead". It's coming soon. Eventually, MAGA will literally be dead when Trump dies in a few months.

MAGA will never die so long as America needs to be made great again. They have enough patriots to replace Trump.

to children who are unsure of their identity and seeing it promoted as opposed to merely accepted has been harmful to society.

There are a lot of responses to this line of thinking.

Developmental years are pretty critical to people forming a sense of self that we should be encouraging people to think carefully and critically about who they are. And as someone who spent 20+ years repressing feelings of not understanding who I was or feeling like I didn't belong in my own body, I fucking wish discourse around trans identity had been more prevalent when I was a teenager.

To be clear, I do still think there are legitimate reasons to be hesitant about more intensive forms of gender affirming care for minors. So I'm not against setting guidelines and restrictions to make it hard enough to disincentivize people who are seeking GAC for less than genuine reasons from wasting people's time. At the same time, it should also be realistically available for those who are genuine in their dysphoria to have access to it.

I thought people should have the right to die

Self harm is a human right, in forms of such as cigarettes, alcohol, speeding, junk food, obesity...ect.

the biggest issue is a lot of people denying that kids can be trans. But there are idiots on both sides. On one side, you have people convincing trans kids that they are not trans, on the other side, you have people being so focused on gender that instead of letting kids explore and self determine, they tell kids what they are or convince them they are trans by misleading them. In simple words, no one should tell kids what they are. trans kids are best protected in supportive families, but too much support is bad as well and can turn into control.

Also, something nobody EVER talks about, is that just because you feel like you don't belong in the body you were born in, it doesn't mean you will necessarily belong in exactly only one other alternative body. That's a false dichotomy that has caused immeasurable suffering. And I suspect you already know who has the most to gain from pushing that.

I also fear and I don't know if it's true in your case that people, particularly autistic people do not have a strong sense of identity

No, anecdotally you are absolutely correct that it seems like there's a disproportionate amount of autistic people who identify as trans. And it made me curious so I did a little digging. And while the evidence is there that autistic people are more likely to identify as trans/nonbinary/genderfluid/etc. than autistic people (https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbeseq/2024/06/13/autistic-people-more-likely-to-identify-as-lgbtq/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), it still only accounts for ~10-15% of autistic people according to most studies done on it (https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10803-024-06650-6?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

;And I think it's less about autistic people are being told that they're queer and instead that they're just more likely to be introspective about their own identity and less likely to care about social norms (i.e. I am born with penis/vagina, so I must be man/woman) (https://www.charliehealth.com/mental-health/neurodivergence/autism-and-gender-dysphoria).

it doesn't mean you will necessarily belong in exactly only one other alternative body.

Yeah, this pretty much just confirms it for me. No one's pushing narratives onto trans people, much less that there's specifically exactly one alternative to being cisgender. Even further beyond that, for those who do identify as transgender, there's an incredibly wide variety in what that exactly looks like (people who go on HRT vs. people who don't go on HRT, people who get corrective surgery vs. people who don't get corrective surgery, etc.).

The fact that you don't see and understand this suggests you're not engaging with the topic in good faith, which is sadly pretty typical.

@Alyssa

The fact that you glossed over the word "false" and replaced it with your own word "narrative" shows you remain predictable and boring.

No one's pushing narratives onto trans people

Agree to disagree on this.

people who go on HRT....

Why is that even being pushed as a choice? Don't bother, I know what your response is already. A good-faith discussion would be neither predictable nor boring.

If TDS made discussiona stupider just don't engage in it

We can’t “not engage in it”, this is the national conversation now. Trump won reelection because of these ridiculous lies, that makes them necessarily relevant issues within American politics.

This is exactly why myself and many others like me were so worried about Trump winning in 2016. I remember Thanksgiving that year when my mother and sister, who don’t follow politics closely asked me what I thought about Trump winning and I told them that out of everything I could talk about, the thing that concerned me the most about it is that he’s a conspiracy theorist. This might have sounded like a benign issue at the time, but I would say everything I expressed about him then has been proven right.

We’ve seen presidents come along and make really bad decisions, catastrophic even. But what Trump has left behind is way worse. At least after we invaded Iraq we had the capability of recognizing that we made a terrible mistake. Trump has disarmed the American populace of the cognitive tools needed to do that. To a conspiracy theorist, there is no such thing as proof of being wrong, there is only proof that others are too involved in the conspiracy.

Trump is a cancer on the American mind, and the fact that we’re can’t even agree on whether the sky is blue anymore is far more damaging than any bad decision a president could make. Trump is Putin’s wet dream realized.

I just hope he can wait till after the midterms. Right now democrats are slated to win bigly, a Trump passing is probably the only realistic event shocking enough to alter that trajectory.

You know it’s funny, I was watching Nuremberg the other day and I think we’re going to see a similar sentiment from what we saw with Hitler’s Generals; watch how fast everyone in his absence will start pretending it wasn’t them, they didn’t know anything, they were fighting back from the inside. I don’t know if it’ll take 5 years, 10 years, or 50, but Trump will go down as the worst president certainly in modern history if not ever.

Introspection is not inherently bad, but it becomes harmful when it shifts from productive self-reflection to rumination—a negative, repetitive cycle of self-criticism, anxiety, and obsession with problems. While moderate, constructive, and action-oriented introspection boosts self-awareness, excessive analysis often leads to low mood, depression, and lowered self-esteem.

Studies find that those who are less likely to utilize introspection have a stronger sense of identity

I would be very interested in reading these studies. I haven't seen anything that says this and I can think of a number of problems that I would like to see if they accounted for.
