Yes, as a mainland Brit I was born and raised to think of everyone from the Island of Ireland as Irish.
And I have visited Ireland many times but never the North, probably because I was conditioned in a certain way relative to what was regarded as "The Troubles".
Just like everywhere else, I'm sure that most folk are friendly and tolerant....But just like everywhere else there are always a few backward thinking idiots that enjoy spoiling things....Northern and/or Southern Island being no exception to that rule.
Though it has to be said that the glorification and celebration of "The Troubles" is still commonplace in the North.
