I've seen a total solar eclipse.

And my advice to anyone planning on going to see one, is take some warm clothes with you.

Yeah, me too, and I was surprised by the dramatic temperature drop also.

I was asking Fauxlaw about this because he chose the bullfrog as his spirit animal, which to me is very interesting, my peeps generally associate it with an eclipse. I was wondering if he chose it or it chose him.

Owls don’t eat pistachios.

"nut meat" is a common vernacular.

Re: your #31:

Did you mean by choice of spirit guide that it can be associated with an eclipse? I've never heard that, but, that's true of a lot of things for me. So much to learn! How are they connected? In any event, as I've only ever witnessed a partial eclipse, the frog was already chosen as my guide long before I witnessed the eclipse.

As I see it, brain processes and internal isolation are such, that all personal data constructs are personal data constructs.

Which isn't to suggest that incoming data doesn't act as a stimuli.

So I find the sounds of nocturnal creatures uplifting, foxes are calling at this time of year, muntjac bark and there are always owls, but that's it...Spirituality is just a self motivated electro-chemical response that some people choose to elaborate upon with ideas such as spirit animals.

Similarly, I view eclipses simply for what they are and afford them no special "spiritual" significance.

You are distracted by nocturnal creatures.

What is the actual meaning of spiritual?

Spirituality can be defined generally as an individual's search for ultimate or sacred meaning, and purpose in life. Additionally it can mean to seek out or search for personal growth, religious experience, belief in a supernatural realm or afterlife, or to make sense of one's own "inner dimension".

As I suggested, spirituality is an internal electrochemical response.

Either a response to an external stimuli or an internal self motivated stimuli.

Ok, so we can easily dress it up with popular verbiage like spirit animals, spirit realms, inner dimensions, afterlife, religious experiences etc etc.

And of course we can add all sorts of associated symbolism and ritual practices to the entertainment experience.

And if it makes one feel good, and doesn't impinge upon the lives of others, then that's fine.

"Spiritual" refers to things concerning the non-physical, non-material aspect of life, such as the soul, spirit, or sacred matters, often associated with a sense of connection to something larger than oneself and a search for meaning. It can relate to religion, but also encompasses personal beliefs, experiences of transcendence, and practices like prayer, meditation, or connection to nature. A spiritual person often seeks purpose, reflects on life's meaning, and embodies qualities like authenticity and compassion.

Yes, the external narrative tagged as #39, was derived from your internal electrochemical processing and was suitably dressed up with appropriate verbiage.

Like I said.

Seems there's a rift among Democrats. Many of them think Trump leads with his stomach, but then, they have to explain Jerry Nadler, but don't. For creators of conflict, they sure don't seem to know resolution. That resolve is the utterly missing element of the DSA.

In most Native American traditions, the frog represents transformation and spiritual growth, as well as fecundity and prosperity. Presumably because the life cycle of a frog is a matter of profound metamorphosis (Tadpole to Frog is a stark transformation), and fecundity and prosperity because they can lay thousands of eggs. My heritage is Cherokee, (I’m a Lamanite) and for my people the frog is considered to represent more of a powerful celestial force than a personal spirit animal, and yes, it’s associated with eclipse. Cherokee tradition symbolically represents a solar or lunar eclipse as a giant frog in the sky (The Sun Eater) attempting to swallow the sun or moon. The frog then represents an encroaching disruption in the natural order and as associated need to restore balance, it typically entails a community response.

In any event, as I've only ever witnessed a partial eclipse, the frog was already chosen as my guide long before I witnessed the eclipse.

Understood, but a personal spirit animal and a universal celestial force can be seen as “polar opposites”; to say that “opposites” are “polar” is to say much more than they are opposed or separated, it is to say that they constitute a whole. There is a higher understanding that makes it evident that both conceptions are true, once this “higher logic” is realized, that they are one and the same.

Keep in mind, a spirit animal, or a celestial force in Native American spirituality, are not a matter of fixed meaning, they are more like pathways guiding you to find personal meaning. For me the owl, and for you the frog, they are telling us to find spiritual meaning by turning to the Kingdom of God that is within.

The Bible mentions the frog as an unclean annimal and the owl as an unclean bird not to be eaten.

That's why I never order the frog legs or owl cordon blue at restaurants.

Emperor Menelik the Second established Ethiopia in 1896. He ate a few pages of the Bible whenever he felt sick because he believed it had the power to cure illness. In 1913 he suffered a stroke, so he ate the entire Book of Kings to cure the effects of his stroke. It caused a bowel obstruction that resulted in his death.

I think something important got lost in translation for Emperor Menelik the Second.
