A peer-reviewed case report published in 2026 in an Italian psychiatry journal documents a 25-year-old woman who was placed in a pharmacologically induced coma for 20 days following a severe traumatic brain injury from a car accident, with a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 3: the lowest possible level of consciousness.


Upon recovering, she reported a out-of-body experience during which she claimed to have floated above her body and witnessed a heated argument between a doctor and a paramedic during her ambulance transport, an altercation that resulted in the paramedic sustaining a minor nasal injury: a specific, unexpected, and independently verifiable detail that was subsequently corroborated by both medical professionals involved.


She also accurately described the operating theater, surgical tools, the appearance of medical staff, and fragments of their conversations, all reported with what she described as greater sensory clarity than normal waking consciousness.


The authors conclude the case “offers compelling evidence that challenges conventional reductionist models of consciousness,” and note that her pre-accident suicidal ideation completely resolved following the experience.

For sure, Not Dead Experiences are self explanatory...As are internal extra-sensory experiences, OBE's...Though neither can actually be verified as anything more than seemingly non-typical awareness/input of information under extreme system stress...Because there is no way knowing that such behaviour was likely to occur and therefore there was no way of accurately recording and verifying such behaviour...And then other factors must also be taken into account, such as suggestion, coercion, the subjects mental health state and the willingness and need of second and third parties for such events to be more than internal system function under stress.
