I can't see why crude oil will not exist forever; it is, coincidentally, an organic product that never has stopped production underground even though greenies claim it stopped production millions of years ago, but that was just calculation misapplied to convince us it is a finite product - good for their advertising, but a flawed concept. I have hard it said by private industry professionals as well as Trump that the successful application of A.I. will require more energy produced than currently produced and used for all other purposes. If green thinks it is the answer to that, when it can provide only 20% of the energy grid produced now, then green does not understand its own limitations, and never did. Just one of its limitations is believing petroleum is not a renewable product. Why not? It's organic and the process of producing it has not stopped, as some greenies attest. What, exactly, stopped that process of crude production? Death of the dinosaurs? They we're not and are not the only organic material on earth. Just by sheer population growth of life on Earth, production of crude continues to this day. And, frankly, we do. not know how long the crude production takes to accomplish. Not a clue.

If humankind burns through all of our available finite energy resources and pollutes our biosphere to power giant server farms, we deserve whatever ignominious end awaits us. Especially since that energy will be bent towards writing mediocre essays for mentally impervious college students and then generating ever-more depraved AI porn for them to goon to in their mother's basements when they're unfitness is discovered. It makes you wonder: is this what it was all for? When Archimedes was sketching out stars in the sand to deduce the elementary principles of mathematics, when Mendeleev puzzled out the fundamentals of chemistry, when Shockley & co. assembled the first point-contact transistor, did any of them imagine that the crowning efforts of five millennia of grueling technological progress would be this? So, you believe a "God" assisted Abraham to found an entire nation, but you can't believe an alien civilization is assisting the human being to make progress.

Hmmmm. Green is not an energy source per se. It's just a representative term for non-fossil fuel alternatives.

I would suggest that an alternative approach to energy needs/demands is available, and that we are pursuing it, slowly.

Slowly, due in the main to financial considerations which take precedence over ecological considerations.

And like BK suggested, it would perhaps be helpful if we demanded less...But unless there is a considerable reduction in the human population I don't really see this happening.
