I'm not gonna make that determination before I hear from our inactives and process the variables on Kohai some more. I'd also like to hear the full claims. I don't want another rush into a blunder.

I swear God is sending this website a series of 10 mafia plagues to convince you guys that full claiming early is retarded. Just in this game you had an accidental hammer of a townie who claimed something that could kinda sorta be a counter, now you're stuck wondering if the vengeful towny was recruited by scum because we outed that DP1. It's a role that any town player would want to keep secret because scum will NK them to prevent it being used to take out scum. Especially if it can be used at LYLO - that's a fucking game winning trump card and you just waved it in scum's face for no apparent reason. I'll character claim but I'm not role claiming this DP. A soft claim is that my character is neither xenomorph nor is it human.

I feel your frustration and this is why I have a problem with flavor claiming in general. However when Thoth claimed my flavor I was essentially forced to counter claim immediately.

I am thinking that Kohai might be town.

Say I were scum and I decide to recruit him last NP - I do so knowing that he counter-claimed and lynched a townie last DP. That moves him to the top of a lot of scum piles and makes him a big mislynch target. His claimed role can also fuel paranoia and make him an easier mislynch target once Casey flips without having to recruit him. Scum also had no idea his ability does not deactivate at lylo/mylo, which means town could just leave him alive and lynch him then were that the case (as it usually is). I don't think he's as attractive a recruitment target as people thing. From a scum perspective, it just means you get to take out a townie when your dude is lynched. Is that powerful? Yeah. Is it better than taking over a top-tier player who is widely townread? Personally, I'd take the latter route.

I mean you guys lynched at hyperspeed last DP and this DP just opened a couple hours ago. Wanted to get some thoughts in tonight because I have a long day tomorrow. Timing on these DPs has been awful for me personally.

Do you think anyone last dp was widely town read. Dp ended in hours thanks to a botched vote count by David. Mafia uses the recruit with only one role that was outed. Do you think they picked randomly?

In my unofficial vote count I did specifically mention it was L-2. The only thing I didn’t do is update the 2/5 to be 3/5.

So... wow, lot to unpack. Going to take me a bit to catch up. That Yakuza flip is a big problem.

Ok. I’ll sit on this for now.

Alright, some basic thoughts as I'm reading through the posts so far, particularly the big ticket issues that have come up. I'll post some reads looking at this DP and the previous one tomorrow.

This back-and-forth between Mikal and Pie had me confused for a bit, but if I have it right, Mikal used a role on Pie that Pie would be able to validate if he had an active role. Pie claims to have a passive role, so he can't validate it. That might be more meaningful if not for the Yakuza flip, since Mikal might be softing a town-only role. As for whether Pie would soft a PR to fuck with mafia, yeah, I absolutely believe he would.

And yeah, this is one game where I get the need to full claim. It looks like it's broadly agreed that we are all full claiming tomorrow at noon CST, which is 1 PM EST, so I'll make sure I'm on and ready. I can include the information I was sent during the NP in that post.

As for lynching Kohai, I don't really understand the logic behind lynching him this DP. If he's town and he's mislynched and he shoots another town player, with the NK, we go from 5-2 to 2-2. That's a big risk that remains concerning in later DPs. I think Pie's mainly talking about what would happen if he's scum and he has this role, which his 2-1 LYLO scenario would get around. I don't have good reason to scumread Kohai, though, so it's not really where my thinking is at right now. I'd just rather not risk the game ending NP2.

I'll go through all this in more detail tomorrow, pretty exhausted after getting three vaccinations this weekend, which has had the lovely side effect of making me feel pretty run down all day. If we're getting everyone's claims tomorrow as expected (and I hope Vader's around to do it), that should at least help us locate the other original scum.
