Currently most of the speculation is being driven by one person whose expertise I'm leaning on, which I don't love since a loremaster on the scum side could really control the narrative when the theme is such an esoteric game.

Not loving the paucity of online information about the PS1 game specifically. The synopses I can find are kind of ass. Don't even mention the 108 stars.

I don't grok the following:

1. why scum can only recruit certain characters
2. what aspects of the game support the recruitment or cult mechanic
3. why Sanchez would be unrecruitable

I think there are 3 main factions from the barebones I’ve read so far

Could be wrong it’s mostly vibes but it’s an early game read anyway so I’m not placing tons of stock in it.

I actually disagree with you on this. We were a millisecond away from winning the claim because we didn’t claim DP1 with the Yakuza. Character and role down the line helps determine your motives in DP1. If there is a Yakuza like role, we can use my strategy of finding the original scum. I thought it was pretty brilliant myself

It’s because Tir is mentioned by name in the PM and it’s in a way that heavily implies he’s town.

Also there are no flips yet and without more information we don’t know the theme split.

I strongly caution focusing not on theme split and character claims as much as results, behavior, and interaction. This is especially important as we know there’s alignment changing mechanics.

If we are assuming what Mikal is saying is true and you believe he is a townlock for the info is saying, I feel like Kohai has to generate some suspicion for the variability of his PM. I feel mine is pretty straight forward and doesn't have any clues or hints/variables to it in the game and I feel like most peoples are the same way.

Don't really have a lot of reads to give, some sus on Kohai with town reads on Max and Mikal. I also am not loving Wylted. Feels like he is taking a backseat so far and I've seen him do that as scum in games where he has no fucking clue what to claim. Very small but noteworthy IMO

2. what aspects of the game support the recruitment or cult mechanic (the entire game is based around recruiting 107 characters, the stars of destiny)
3. why Sanchez would be unrecruitable - (sanchez was a traitor who basically fucked over the liberation and betrayed all his friends. He was scarlet through and through)

If you give me any theory on what TP could be , I would entertain it.

I will bet damn near anything on the fact TP cannot recruit. Max's PM basically implies it heavily. Toran is the one recruiting and that thematically makes sense. There is only one TP in this game I could think of and it would make more sense as a TP SK or something.

toran is a primary cult or primary scum and can recruit. I am like near positive about this based on what Max posted and my own PM.

The 1st is the version of the game we are playing is a snapshot at the start of the game

The 2nd is scum are going to stick out like sore thumbs depending on when the timeline of the split is happening. Cus there are not that many people in scarlet unless the snapshot is at the start.

It sounds like there may be some sort of mechanic that allows affiliation changes or something. If scum can recruit I encourage them to go ahead and recruit me, they won't regret it, but I will assume they won't because recruiting the guy who asked to be recruited is just dumb.

Let's talk about this post from Wylted and why I responded to it the way I did. Encouraging scum to recruit by itself is null.

But then doubling back and saying "oh but now they won't now that I've said this" is just weird... why post it in the first place then? If that's the thought you had while typing your request to be recruited, why post such a thing at all?

But hey, maybe this is a fake out and Wylted is trying not to be recruited... why? one problem: Now he's revealed to scum that something about him means he DOESN'T want to be recruited. And given the way he did it, he clearly didn't want to reveal such a thing... but then why not consider the fact that the way you've posted still reveals it anyway?

So either of the two ways you slice it, Wylted's posting doesn't seem genuine at all.

But hey, what if Wylted is just being weird? Which is why didn't vote him right away, or reveal my thoughts behind calling his post "fake and gay." A bad reaction would've given me the green light to go for his claim.

Interestingly enough, I got no reaction. But I still think that's a green light. I would've expected town Wylted to say something like "chill out" or "cool reaction test bro" or "no I'm trying to do X here." And scum would've had some abrasiveness and/or OMGUS. But the lack of town reaction is also scummy to me.

As for other posts from Wylted:

I don't like that air max claimed he can't be recruited. For what purpose? The scum team or a scum team if there are multiple could have potentially wasted a recruit by him staying that.

This post I'm ok with. I don't agree, but he's maybe right that Airmax could have hidden it. I still townread Airmax regardless. But from Wylted this post is ok, maybe lightly towny.

I basically always scum read Mikal. It's maybe something in his personality so it makes me reluctant to put him in any pile. I usually rather just catch him mechanically later on.

But then in lieu of giving something on Airmax... he drops a big fat nothing on Mikal. Oh, and he's not tried to quicksolve anyone else. Slightly don't like this one. Not really the worst thing.=, because hey, maybe he is having troubles and doesn't wanna go into detail. Technically possible, I guess.

I thought I might give pie support. We often support each other's lynches in games until one of us is proven to be scum. Just buying some good will until my reads are stronger.

Technically, the vote was part of the last post, but in spirit, it's more fitting to put it in with his most recent post.

And after voting me, he says he's just parroting Pie. Really? The guy who often tries to note small little things and try to get quicksolves when he's town, has no reasoning on me and is just following Pie... "just buying some good will"... yeah, I think he said the quiet part out loud. This post, I heavily scumread. I think the vote on me that came in the post before it is opportunism.

In general, I think there's opportunism in going for me here. The logic behind the read on me is dumb, from both Kohai and Pie. Either could be opportunistic. But I have a reason to townread Kohai. As for Pie, I'm going to look into him. I'll get back to you on both.

Would it make sense if everyone was scarlet or if scum have fake claims and those fake claims are scarlet?
