I’m honestly getting ready for bed and an a bit tired to properly analyze it.

I will comment that I think wylted’s entry is fairly town. If he’s a recruiter or aligned with scum that recruits then I don’t think he’d draw attention to himself like that.

FWIW it may be best doing character mass claims today before recruitments start just so we have an idea of what we are working with.

I thought I might give pie support. We often support each other's lynches in games until one of us is proven to be scum. Just buying some good will until my reads are stronger.

why scum can only recruit certain characters - (don't want to say this as it will tell them who to target)

what aspects of the game support the recruitment or cult mechanic (the entire game is based around recruiting 107 characters, the stars of destiny)

why Sanchez would be unrecruitable - (sanchez was a traitor who basically fucked over the liberation and betrayed all his friends. He was scarlet through and through)

If the game is just Toran freedom fighters recruiting people from the Empire, why can't scum recruit anyone aligned with the Empire, including Sanchez?

Alright, I'm frustrated and tired, but I wanted to get through this before the night was up.

I'll start by answering the questions I've been posed:

It says my character is a former member of the Liberation Army and a current member of the New State Army. I've tried doing some research into how that slots into the whole Scarlet vs. Toran split, but I haven't been successful at figuring it out, so here we are. I'm fine character claiming if desired.

As for where I see things going so far:

I'm hesitant to get invested in a theme split, even if Mikal seems to have a lot of info to back it. His pursuit of a theme split does ring as pretty townie. I don't think he'd push this kind of effort this early as scum, just seems more likely he'd be either pushing for more information like character claims to feel everyone out or less information to keep his claim more hidden.

I buy Max's claim. Fake-claiming Miller has happened before and it's certainly not impossible here, I just don't buy that he's done that this early and with no prompting.

I can't say I've seen a lot of outlying posts from Magic despite the votes that accumulated on him. He could be trying to throw sus at WyIted to get heat off of himself, but I doubt it. WyIted's posting so far does stand out and I think the case Magic's made against him has merit.

Other than that, I'm still trying to process. Probably will need to reread these posts when I can put this day behind me entirely, but didn't want to end the day without posting anything substantive.

I'm asking you what you think his plan is there.

Tbh the whole TP vs Cult vs Scum having the recruiting mechanic is a waste of time. It's all speculation.

It was based on their motives and behaviors as they related to DP1 where no one claimed their character and role

revealing information about your character will allow scum to use their roles to much greater effect

All I'll say about my role for now is that it gives me some idea of at least one other role in the game, especially based on REF's clarification. Not sure if that role is scum or town, but I usually only see it faked.

Imo the issue is the fact that he’s said a whole load of nothing, which fits his scum MO. The whole scum vs cult vs TP recruitment is a distraction. We don’t know this early. Also the fact that he’s town locked Mikal so early for basically no reason is very very odd. It’s almost like he’s just doing it cause everyone else was doing it. At least until I said it’s NAI and then he backtracked just now

We have to be careful about how many of us claim our characters. That being said, Mikal's right that I'm an outlier, so I think keeping my character claim in reserve wasn't going to be any help.

Very hard for me to scumread him for it. This isn't the Jet Fighters game where you caught him off guard with surprise pressure. He straight-up volunteered to give his outlier character.

Skep would not put suikoden 2 reference in this.

In my limited experience DP1 reads are worth nothing 70% of the time anyway
