This is why I hate hated as a role. It should be used as a modifier to a good role so you have a reason to keep the person alive. As it stands now, it's optimal play for us to lynch Kohai, but because it's optimal play his lynch will reveal very little as far as behavior and wagons go.

My only real scumread so far is Mag1c and even that's not especially strong. I'm getting null vibes off of WF and Pie as always. Null on Rex too. Solid town on Wryly and Kohai, a bit less solid on Magoroth. Slight scum on Shining.

I don't like Pie's, "claim or your head on this pike", act, but from him that's NAI if not townie. Pie's initial "softclaim" was negative on the Mohs scale, even though he claimed event later. Typical hypiecrisy.

It's probably due to my relative noobity or this site's meta. I could probably find more occurrences (must resist temptation to google-check if I spelled that word correctly) if I searched DebateArt's archives for long enough.

I’m trying to read Pie in good faith (Merry Christmas Pie) but I’ll admit

Wryly’s case does have a very valid point. I suppose it’s worth noting that he opted not to go for the soft at a time when the soft was suggested, not started, but then he refused and had people pressure him for it. I don’t care for it. Now there is something in my mind that he could be doing with all this as town (again, good faith), but I’m gonna wait and see if he’ll make that defense for himself. Some ok vibes posts, some takes that I like, on Wryly and Rex. “Are you retarded?” to Kohai is very towny. So I guess the game here is to ask why he would refuse to soft for so long.

As for Rex, the point about fluff from Pie is a good one. And I see Wryly’s point; it does address mine pretty well, but still, I’ve been given no reason to townread Rex. I do know that he likes to hang back as scum; I’ve seen him do it twice in the last two games I’ve hosted.

Magoroth, I can picture a DCraft noob just outing a character to be helpful. Especially when it could be CC’d. But mafia has some fake claim of some kind. And if it is the character claim like Pie speculates, it’s really not so towny. Now here’s the thing: While he’s new to DCraft, I know he played in a rolemad, closed setup heavy community before becoming an MU player. I kinda feel he should know that claiming his character would help mafia figure out his role. I don’t like this. I guess the one thing I’ll say here is that he did just do some fancy play syndrome thing on MU.

Shining’s long-ish post was a W. Bit of borrowed logic on the Wryly scumread, and applied pretty inaccurately imo. That’s my one gripe but it’s very hard for me to hate on him posting something substantial like that.

I think I was on to something with the MafiaUniverse role list softclaim. It fails just because claiming Common is putting a neon sign on yourself reading Please Kill Me. I have a problem to think about during the night phase. The search for an optimal soft-claim categorization almost seems like a potential programming problem.

I found an instance of my role, with the same name but slightly different mechanics, within about ten minutes of Ctrl+F'ing through endgame threads on DebateArt, so maybe it's not as rare as I thought. That, or I'm just saying this in hopes scum will waste their time.
