So, wait, what's the issue with Magoroth now? Awesome says his "posts are atrocious" and Wylted's just buying in because he trusts Awesome. I guess the pushback on softclaiming flavor is a little off because he's almost defensive of scum here (who have been given two fake claims anyway), but nothing has looked that bad.

Magoroth came across as erratic and scummy to me for the whole Bears game and turned out to be town. He's kind of just like that, it's NAI.

I agree there is no point to softing here but I confess I don't even know how one advances the game DP1 without softing. I guess just talk and sus and grasp at straws.

I don’t really want to soft-claim flavour just because it would feel like shit if I was Scum and got caught due to flavour. So I’d appreciate flavour not being a part of the discussion.

So I’ve been reading and keeping up to a degree. It’s also hard to say what my meta should be because of the persuasion and stuff within the game, so being an open book might be a detriment

I think the best method of attack is to not over reveal anything. So I don’t think I’m going to be as quick to jump to claims and counter because that could ultimately lead to some more manipulation. Probably going to make some commentary but not too much but I am keeping up and reading analysis

I get the distinct feeling that Rex is sick of all the questions he is getting, especially in scum chat.

I know that directly asking for handouts tends to be the best way to not get one, but if you townread me at all, please bestow your favor upon me. My role does basically nothing until I reach the higher levels.

Based on a quick "ISO" (Profile page > Mafia > Comments):

1. Post #29: Suggesting that Empress should fullclaim. I don't completely scumread this, but I don't like it. Also, the inexplicable statement that scum probably know which abilities are in the game almost strikes me as a scumslip. Probably not, but I have no clue where he got that idea. On your home site, do scum usually know town's roles?
2. Post #57: Voting me because it's supposedly scummy to justify Random Vote Start as Random Vote Start. Compared to what? Voting someone with no explanation, or not voting at all?
3. Post #104: Voting Wryly for having "trouble producing thoughts". I could be missing something here, but Wryly hasn't seemed incoherent or unthinking this game. Maybe she's being inclined to post fluff, but I can hardly blame her since there's not that much information to work with. I don't think that Magoroth has contributed much more than Wryly has.

I’m not even scumreading you any more, by the way. I thought the OMGUS was towny, even if it’s silly.

I still think we should mass claim what abilities we have access to. If scum tells the truth, and they don’t use their fake claim, they will be forced to use their abilities either in a pro-Town way, rendering them kinda useless to them, or take a risk and use their abilities anyway in spite of lying about it.

I take it you mean Empress. Completely understandable. Consider that point dropped.

Because the alternative is VTLing with no explanation? Someone might look at it and wrongly think that I had a specific reason to sus Mikal, but did not mention it. Saying that the vote is random does not change whether or not it is actually random.

We vote her and... find out how many thoughts she's had? How does that work? Do you cut her in half and count the rings? I agree that more people have produced original thoughts than I have.

I still think we should mass claim what abilities we have access to.

I've sometimes wondered if the optimal strategy for closed-setup games is to force everyone to immediately massclaim and then hunt for contradictions. I also don't think that this is the right game to test it. I think a lot of us barely understand the basic setup, and none of us have any experience playing it. Laying our cards on the table will give scum an informational advantage.
