I didn't think about it much in the moment. I picked a number I thought was random. I'm interrogating ex post facto why how that choice was likely biased by existing picks. I don't know what else I can say to explain this.

I’ve been pondering Mikal’s claim for a bit.

Mikal’s claim has a great justification, but hider in a 9-player setup is wild. And if I were hider I’d be baiting the night kill. The whole “claim is scummy sounding” problem can be solved by just pointing to behavior that indicates you were baiting the NK. I don’t like it.

I don’t think scum Mikal would just try and nail a major protagonist off the rip, but then I have to theorize a scum role for his character. Like I said, I’ll admit the justification for compulsive hider matches really well. Maybe something to do with her ability to negotiate with others? Some in-world politics thing.

I saw Thoth mention this earlier. He thinks mafia are antagonists.

It’s far from a guarantee. In inheritance cycle mafia (a previous game of Pie’s), the mafia characters were both protagonists, in a game where other protagonists were also town.

Small behavioral thing: I don’t mind the low activity, but absolutely no small blip on what’s going on, when he does check in, (outside of his claim) bothers. Can be applied to Rex as well.

It’s not much but I’ve had some success reading people off this in the past.

As for RT’s claim: Tug is a deep pull and first instinct was that it’s the type of role to avoid claiming a major character.

Did some research, and it turns out there’s more to the horse than I thought. Notably, the horse can speak to Will Treaty, the main character. Other information shows a horse with human intelligence, that plays a larger role than I thought.

If the character can still be considered a deep pull, then one must answer why RT claimed so quickly under no pressure. Only argument is aggressive claiming right off the rip; would have to be teammates with Mikal imo.

Maybe Lunatic since he can be very aggressive. I can see him approving an aggressive claim from RT, thing is I’d be shocked he isn’t doing it alongside RT.

Justification, as Wryly pointed out, is a stretch. I agree with the reasoning there.

I think the key here is that the claim feels too stupid to be scummy. I find it hard to believe that he claimed a character one would only have to think is a decent fake claim with some exceptional research and/or knowledge, and then would still have argue against the perception of it being a deep pull when it’s kinda middling, and then slap on a stretchy justification, all while claiming off the rip with no pressure.

One would think if you have an aggressive claim you want to try as scum, you’d want to make sure you have a darn good justification first.

TLDR: I don’t rate RT too highly of a player (no offense) but the claim seems to be a bit much on the stupid scale, for anyone who isn’t total noob or shitter from the early DART days. I don’t think he’s terrible at the game like that. I rate him as middling.

On a more humorous note, after doing some research, it thinks it’s funny how all of the kingdoms are just stereotypes of European knights, Germanic barbarians, Mongol warriors, etc. very on the nose lol

As for Thoth, no thoughts yet. Apparently part of another mafia community, but for how long they’ve played in that community, idk. Getting big noob-y vibes from him, so I’m gonna guess: Not for too long.

Has posted enough to warrant a deep dive, so that should be my next action.

If I had another reason for selecting that number, I would have given it. I've answered your earlier question as thoroughly as I am able. Aside from the assumption that, since you were asking for numbers from 1-8 and therefore it likely applied to the other 8 players beyond yourself, I had (and still have) no idea what the numbers suggest.

I'm curious how characters are split into town versus scum. I would think that protagonists are town and antagonists are scum, but Deltarune had enemies as town and protagonists as scum, presumably because, and Casey can confirm this if she hasn't already and I forgot, there weren't enough heroes to fill town.

Yeah that's partially it, and also partially because I like to have more interesting theme splits than good vs evil. Pie does as well, so I wouldn't assume that the mafia side of the split is made up of antagonists, nor would I assume that any antagonistic character is necessarily mafia. In a previous Pie game, Inheritance Cycle, one of the town characters was the main villain of the entire series, and from what I can tell, he was meant to be a particularly evil guy. Luna ended up leading the lynch on the one who claimed him, only for him to flip town.

So basically what I'm saying is, I wouldn't make any naive assumptions like that if I were you.

Honestly, I just chose randomly. I had no idea where you were going with the numbers but wanted to just let you cook. I figured you wouldn't do anything stupid based on our numbers at least.

I agree with this reasoning. I have a hard time seeing RT come up with this fakeclaim on the spot. Either he's scum straightclaiming, or he's town. I don't think the former is very likely, either, just because of how reckless that decision would be, so I'm leaning town pretty hard on RT.
