Design:

A lot of my recent games have been on the swingier/ role heavy side and have been a bit chaotic, so I wanted to go back to my old style of game that was more vanilla heavy. There wasn't a lot of crazy power on the town outside of the cop and pies role, and even then I gave mafia ways to counter both. I also feel I didn't over power mafia either, I am hoping the balance was fine in this one. Obviously pies role I knew could make the game swing in either direction, at the end of the day it resulted in the town only getting two mislynches instead of there normal three, but I also didn't really expect mafia to catch onto Ted Lasso so fast, and if they had guessed wrong, or if shining was lynched first, pie could have been a major force for town here as basically a confirmed unkillable townie. So that was probably the swingiest thing about the game.

Thoughts:

I don't usually like to do MVP's they are a bit outdated, but if I was to give one, I would give it to mharman here. Dude played like an absolute champ. Not only did he accurately guess Ted Lasso dp1, his theme analysis was amazing, he guessed many of the town characters and power roles based off of the tiniest clues, and made excellent decisions for night kills. I forgot how good mharman can be at this game when he's locked in like he was here. It was really fun watching him work in the mafia thread. Everyone else did alright as well, I don't blame town for the mislynches either.

Also whiteflame the reason Roy Kent wasn't in the theme was because that was the fake claim I gave pie as a safe claim, since I figured he would probably need a solid one to play that role well.

The only thing that mafia maybe could have done different was use doctor as a fake claim, but mharman kind of picked up there was no doctor, and I think he chose the safe route with the vanillas which was probably smarter in the end, because it would have been suspicious if a doctor survived that late in the game with no successful protections, so the vanilla claim was probably the way to go. The role hint I gave them was that "there was more than one vanilla in this game".

Nah, it wasn’t just on you. As I wrote out in that last DP, I had strong mechanical suspicions that there weren’t 3 Vanillas, but I talked myself out of it and I found Mag1c’s argument on the bus persuasive. Came in questioning him a lot more than I left, and Wryly ended up feeling like a default even though I had nothing on her.

Oh well. Congrats to Mag1c and Shining, crazy that you figured out Pie was Ted Lasso.

Going into DP2 I was sure scum was between Wylted or Magic, but I eventually I started scumreading Whiteflame and Kohai as well. Magic did a good job making himself seem less scummy that the alternatives. Didn't get the scum read on Wryly.

Thx. I think there’s two people on this site better than me. And there are some very cracked players on MU.

MU users aren’t as scary to play against as one would think, but the absolute top of the food chain over there is an insane level of play.

I think I could take a game or two off them but they’d beat me more often than not.

By the way I was never planning on bussing Shining. I just asked myself what I would do as town, and that led to me joining in on the Shining pressure.

I then tried to help find a fake claim, and we couldn’t come up with anything good so Shining bluffed ascetic. I don’t hate the decision.

Unfortunately town didn’t find anyone else to sus so I had to commit to the hard bus when it was all said and done. Even after Pie died I was hoping for a VTNL. Didn’t happen.

While the town cred is nice, I don’t recommend hard bussing. I didn’t feel that board state was good until the final DP. It would have definitely would have been more difficult if Shining and I guessed Ted incorrectly.
