Amber Endgame

Originally, Kohai and I leaned toward killing Lunatic first, but Magic wanted Julian instead. I actually don't entirely remember why, but it ended up being a great choice, even if the game didn't go our way in the end.

Julian jailed flora and had a huge last will but it wasn't displayed on NP1.

Also, I made some mistakes with setup balance. Originally the setup was gonna be 14p with 10 town (one of which would be a cop), 3 Mafia, and 1 third party ghost. I wasn't sure what to do with the setup balance since I only had 12p so I decided to remove the ghost and the cop. The result was a game which was too scumsided.

That being said. Another mistake I made was not instantly forbidding anon stuff right away. Although being a new host on this site I did not want to act like the Devil that punishes everybody, which is why I did not do it, but in hindsight I should've.

Mikal frustrated me this game. Scum had frustrations of their own with him, but my actual reason was the fact that he attempted to create the information that Disguiser/Ty'iga did not exist by trying to bait it out of me. Like... dude, what? And constantly relying on out of game information rather than reads in order to solve the game.

Yeah, it was a pretty scumsided game... That we still managed to lose LMAO! But I had fun either way.

I ask that this game not be counted for anyone's win/lose. There were too many issues with stuff (I don't think scum lost because of these issues to be fair but it certainly didn't help)

I don't generally assign MVPs as host since I don't think that's my business, but I thought Mestari played quite well

Prob will count this. If it makes people feel better. Ill remove myself off the elo. I dont really care. We have counted games where magic rage yeeted himself and people threw etc. Its not an exception or fair to people who played it out.

Also I dont want this to be a precident for excusing a loss either way. Cus it will be used as a reference point in the future.

1. Lunatic was sussing Pie so I wanted him alive to keep duking it out with Pie
2. Vader would've likely been against Pie, so it was a sneaky way for us to be able to say "scum Pie sneakily killed one of his detractors," while keeping his main detractor alive to thunderdome with him, while we argued "scum Pie wouldn't kill Lunatic bc it would be too obvious."

DP2 I noticed Lunatic was telling people to "explain why you should be alive," which was similar to how the jailer talked in Pie's will. So then i thought I had been wrong on Vader and the jailer was Lunatic. But nope, the jailer was Vader and I was right the first time.

We did not realize the Janitor didn't give us the PM in this game, which was pretty weird. If I had known that, I would not have janitored any of the kills tbh.

Alr Mestari. You're pretty good when locked in. But I was not locked in this game. Was preparing/playing a pokemon tournament until mid DP2.

At first I wanted a no-contest. I just didn't want to have a scum game losing streak. But, now I don't care enough. Some BS definitely happened in this game, and I wasn't locked in anyway. So it's a loss with an asterisk and he can declare a mafia loss if he wants to. Also, I could not care less about my elo.

Nah that’s bullshit. Thoth being replaced when he was on the chopping block should’ve never happened. That alone would’ve given town a major advantage

Normally id feel worse but we have all did worse than that and I explicitly asked permission so I don't feel to bad.

Tbf if you were alive it prob would have been way harder. Kohai was so obvious scum it was painful.

Also, Mikal was 100% right that I was screaming from my grave that Caine was scum. It was so obvious that idk how anyone was considering anything else. Every piece of DP3 was a direct variance from his previous town game

The whole pretend to be wylted/bullish thing was just the wrong plan. By the time I had spare moment to look at thread (while preparing for said tounrament), I saw people thought I was Oberon, so I just rolled with it. It was a great excuse to lurk while continuing tournament prep and play, but trying to get away with some things and have people say "lol that's just wylted/bullish for ya" did not work out.

As I said, I don’t think anything actually caused scum to lose the game and they probably would’ve lost anyways. Too many people were suspicious of Kohai and Thoth/Casey from the get go.

Also to all my detractors, I didn’t factor in that where we’re 7 vanillas instead of 6, but we did have a 33% chance with Kohai, Banana, Pie. Would’ve been 66% if Thoth hadn’t been replaced out

I had fun playing with you guys this game. I was kinda sad to see things get as toxic as they did.

I think its rather unfair to blame the host for the chronic disregard of basic rules. This community and its leadership probably needs to figure that part out if its ever going to grow a healthy mafia community. Second game out of 2 I have played here and I am constantly bothered by the conduct in games.

I do think the setup was very scum sided.

I agree that Mestari's play individually was the the most impactful in the game.

I am rather disappointed in my personal performance this game. Really struggled to engage and it was actually a huge problem for me to push my thoughts with my self imposed restriction.

Props to Kohai for their deep wolf play. I woulda turned on you after Brand flipped but that shit threw me for a loop. EoD I was struggling to reconcile my reads and just kept cutting back to "I do not fucking know but in every world I look at Brand is scum" kinda thing. I am sorry to hear your stepping back from mafia and I appreciate the tools you are creating for the community.

Yeah. Not sure if this is just a fluke but I notice women on this site tend to be much better at scum than the men. My experience on other sites shows that it usually doesn’t matter so IDK what to think.

I dont get the win/loss counter elo thing. I am not even sure how to look at it on this site.

But I agree if people start splitting hairs on when a game should or should not be counted its gona get really messy. I figure some structure should be put in place to deal with egregious breaches of rules and/or hosting issues if thats going to be a function. People voting on their feelings post game if the game should qualify or not is as bad as the whole "People can enter a debate and reframe the rules of the debate mid debate" standard imo. I hate everything about the potentials that come from such a precedence.

The problem is that you can’t ignore consideration of who people are. Because the pool of players is so small, it becomes very obvious based on posting who everyone is.

As for Mikal asking those questions to Mago. I see them as legitimate questions, and it’s up to the mod to consider the ramifications of answering questions. Mikal himself as mod doesn’t answer any questions, but when in doubt, No Comment is the best answer.

Just play normally. It’s a team game. Half your job as town is to build the rapport with other townies.

It was blatantly obvious if he read the previous game that he was scum. Especially in DP3. Those posts were very very bad

As for Kohai's crashout:

He didn't play well this game, but he did improve... the bar is pretty low. Some people have natural talent, and some people have to work really hard if they wanna git gud. He's in the latter group. It'll be a long road for him.

But as I told him, he should take a break. A couple games off was good for me and it'll be good for him. And then he should decide what his future in mafia and on the site is.

Casey did fine, I could see a lot of improvement.
