Welcome to bring your own role mafia game! This is a highly experimental game, and I cannot guarantee any balance. Instead of me picking a theme and creating characters and roles within that theme, you the player, will bring that to me. Every player will pick any character they want. I will then build a game around the characters and roles that you select.
When you sign up please DM me 2-3 characters you want to be in this game.
Game Information
- The day phase will last for 72 hours and the night phase will last for 24 hours or until all night actions are in.
- Bastard elements might exist
- There are no anti-claim mechanics.
- Third parties might exist
Game Mechanics
- Use VTL: (Playername) or Vote: (Playername) to eliminate a player or use our site's voting tool.
- Lynching mechanics:
- Plurality lynch: If a player does not reach majority by the EOD the wagon with the most votes will be lynched.
- Tied wagons will be resolved via randomization.
- No lynching is enabled
- Self-voting is enabled
- Factional kills are assigned and optional.
- All factions have day chat. There are no mechanisms that will disable it
- Twilight begins when a majority is reached. It lasts until the thread is locked and the flip is posted. Until this point, players may freely post in this game thread until I arrive to flip them. Votes and unvotes in this phase do not count.
- MyLo/LyLo will not be announced.
Rules:
- Follow all site-rules and use common sense.
- Be respectful to your fellow players.
- Breadcrumbing and role hinting is allowed; however, cryptography is permitted.
- Since you brought your own role to the game, I highly encourage you to claim your character and roleplay.
- OGI and angleshooting is extremely banned and will not be taken kindly.
- Dead means dead. Once you are dead, stop communicating with living players. Exceptions: Mafia will become treestumped and allowed to continue communicating in factional PMs (very standard around here).
- The most important rule of all: Do not ever reference this game outside the game thread and proper channels!!!
Modkillable Offenses
These offenses are modkillable:
- Directly quoting your role PM in part or in full.
- Utilizing AI chatbots like chatgpt to paraphrase your role PM.
- Directly quoting mod communications. Referencing is fine; however, directly quoting is not.
- Editing or deleting your posts.
Note this is not an exhaustive list. In the event of a modkill the day phase will continue.
Order of Operations
Player's alignment will be randomized before assigning roles and designing the game. This prevents characters from being AI. Night actions are resolved via natural action resolution. The only modification I'm making is to the catastrophic rule. In the event of a catastrophic conflict (ie a mafia role blocker and a town roleb blocker) the mafia action will take priority over the town action (this is fairly standard practice here).
Win Conditions:
Town: Town wins when all threats to town have been eliminated and at least one town aligned player is alive when this condition is met.
Mafia: Mafia wins when they overpower town or nothing can prevent this from happening.
Third parties: May have their own win condition
