A simple, successful, eventful execution of an indictment against Maduro, his complicit wife, and son, against a criminal drug lord who has destroyed his wealthy nation of Venezuela inside of 20 years [the average is 40] demonstrating, once again, the failure of socialism to endure because, though a very wealthy nation, Maduro hasn't a clue how to create wealth in an ongoing revenue stream for his nation, while ripping off money from his alleged constituents to line his own pocket. Greed is the death of socialism. Sorry, guys, always was, always will be.

Also, lets not pretend that this is about helping Venezuela.

there are many countries in the world which are way poorer than Venezuela, which would benefit way more from being illegally invaded by US.

But they dont have oil. Venezuela has.

An indictment executed by the biggest felon ever to lead the USA.

Such is the way it is I suppose.

We have to accept that we live in a corrupt world led by corrupt people.

How is this not going to help Venezuela? 20 years ago, before Maduro, Venezuela was a wealthy nation, and ally to the U.S. Maduro destroyed it. Yes, they are fortunate to have a rich supply of oil to produce and market to the world, yet Maduro, by erosional greed, wasted that production and they now lack the revenue stream that production and trade gave them. We do not want to merely have Maduro replaced without our assistance to those people to choose a wise leader who will return that nation to prominence. We are not gin g to rape that nation of its plentiful resources, but we are going to be compensated for our assistance. We do not want nor need to permanently take over Venezuela and will not do that. This is all we did for Germany [twice], Japan, Vietnam, Iraq, and now others. Where was your complaint, then? Is yours just Trump hate, or is there a real argument?

Can't be a felon until a felony case in court is concluded. The one felony conviction Trump has, to date, is not yet a settled case, my friend. Did you forget [conveniently]? Words mean things. Use them correctly, please.

Not likely to be settled is it Faux.

The Trump regime is just as corrupt as the Maduro regime.

It's just that US military might is greater.

So how many more Central and Southern American Narco-States is the US going to invade Faux.

Let's see.....Which ones have the most oil and natural resources?

Hmmmm, that would be Venezuela.

Well, when it comes to Germany, Japan, and Vietnam wars, I couldnt really complain because I wasnt even born then. But yeah, bombing Vietnam with agent orange to hurt nature and civilians is a great example of helping Vietnam. (this is sarcasm, for those unable to detect sarcasm).

Venezuela was wealthy in 2014 too, reasonably. However, after 20 years of US sanctions (which started in 2006 and gradually increased), it got poor. And yes, first sanctions were put in place about 20 years ago.

So US first makes huge effort to make country poor, and then attacks a country because US made it poor.

It makes sense for Trump to attack Venezuela. Remember it was Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela who won the NobelPeace award denying Trump of his converted award.

I am confused as to why people in Venezuela are celebrating and cheering, why aren't they yelling death to America. I mean didn't the US just bomb the shit out of their country? None of this makes any sense. The news media and social media have been condemning the US for its actions against Venezuela for months and now the people of the country are cheering being bombed and their President and first lady being captured and brought back to America. None of this will ever make any sense to me, just contradictions everywhere.

You can't be that clueless, so you are just that dishonest.

Donald Trump is a convicted felon, Trump is officially a felon under US law who has not one as you lie, but 34 Felony convictions under his belt. The cases have been settled, Trump is using his corrupt control over the Judiciary to erase that legacy, but that does not mean the cases were not settled, and he was found guilty of 34 felonies.

He is a felon, and your dishonest MAGA distraction doesn't change that fact.

Honestly the trial is a sideshow. He can walk for all I care, so long as he's in custody long enough for a new government to take charge in Venezuela.

I've never read up much on American actions during the Cold War.

I've not been paying much to Venezuela history the last 20 years.

Maduro kidnapping/capture, 'seems like the type of situation that would require a declaration of war.

But again, there's all that really illegal sounding stuff during the Cold War I've never read much on.

Hm, China during WW2,

Jefferson and the pirates,

Japan and the Black ships,

Castro assassination attempts,

United States invasion of Panama.

Does America consider Venezuela 'not a functioning country? China WW2 Civil War example,

Do they not consider Maduro a legitimate head of state?

Do they not consider Maduro a legitimate head of state?

He isn't. Maduro lost the 2024 presidential election but fraudulently claimed victory and then refused to transfer power to his opponent, who was forced to flee abroad. That man is the legitimate and lawful President of Venezuela until his term expires, whereas Maduro was an usurper holding the country hostage and preventing the lawful president from assuming his duties.

In this respect Maduro was actually worse than most dictators out there, since the people of Venezuela decisively repudiated the notion that he has any legitimate right to rule. In most such places (re: Iran or China) people aren't afforded the option of a free vote for whichever candidate they please, so it can be conjectured but not unambiguously proven that most of them don't support the status quo. In Venezuela they were given such a choice, upon which they rejected Maduro in a landslide.

Hm, so groundwork was laid to American law legally state that we did not consider Maduro a legal head of state.

And if someone is not legally (By us) considered a legal head of state, the president does not need to declare war to act militarily against them?

Even if the so called 'not head of state controls their country and it's military?

Trump tried to steal the 2020 elections by staging an insurrection at Capitol Hill. He then pardoned 1500 of the rioters after winning a second term. He is guilty of attempting the same thing as Mudoro but failing.

Oil and money.

That is all this is about.

The US is a definitively secular nation, founded on complete separation of the State and religion. The Left Wing of US realise this but don't realise that pure freedom requires as low tax and free access to guns as possible. The Right Wing of US don't realise that secular pure freedom means the LGBTQ+ and abortion agendas both end up in line with US's liberty-first ethos.

It is left-wing to be pro-life. You are backing poor babies being born at the inconvenience of the already-born. Go figure.

@NobodyInParticular, still just thinking.

"United States of America v. Nicolás Maduro Moros is a federal criminal case filed by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) on March 26, 2020, against Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela since 2013, and 14 senior Venezuelan officials. The indictment alleged that Maduro and his associates conspired with Colombian guerrilla groups to traffic cocaine into the United States as part of what U.S. authorities termed a "narco-terrorism" conspiracy."

Curious invasion. The arresting g force entered Venezuela for the purpose of arresting and extraditing Maduro. That done, the arresting force left the country.

Which ones [more Central and Southern American Narco-States] have the most oil and natural resources?

So, you believe this exercise to capture a drug lord was really an occupation off another country try's natural resources? Believe what you wish; speaking of wish balloons.

That was just 11 years ago. Meaning that since we started sanctions against Venezuela 20 years ago, it was still a wealthy nation by its resource wealth. Nice wish balloon.

Half for oil, half for Israel. If US consumers actually see savings at the gas pump I'm fine with it. It would be refreshing for our escapades throughout the world to actually benefit the people of this country for once. But the pessimistic side of me says that oil companies will pocket the savings as extra profit. Here's to hoping that Donny is worried enough about this approval numbers to twist their arms a bit, but I'm not holding my breath considering the psychotic bubble he's ensconced himself in.

That was good news for all the latinos. We were so fed up with many Venezuelans getting into our countries bringing their fucking customs and criminality.

Unfortunately, Maduro was not the big fish. He was only a puppet of the Cubans and the Venezuelan communist military. So, if Trump really wants to put in order that country, he has to drop some bombs over the main high-ranking military officers' houses. He also has to free Cuba from communism.

Trump will need the support of Venezuela migrants to continue stealing Venezuelan oil. The more oil he steals from Venezuela the more important those Venezuelan migrants will become to America.

Edit post

#30 •••
@SatanLucy

That's beside the point that the exercise to indict and arrest Maduro was not intended to ultimately bury Venezuela, but Madura's hopes of continuing his own theft of the country's wealth as a criminal drug king, and not its benevolent leadership of the country, which leadership should have been to continue and increase its wealth and not his own. That's personal, criminal greed, not proper leadership. To kill the graft, first cut the snake's head, don't merely increase sanctions, which was Biden's perennial approach, ignoring the entire criminality of Maduro.
