Between roughly 2014 to 2016, I was active on debate.org (or as it was affectionately called, "DDO"). I wasn't a 'hall of fame' user by any means, but I think I had something like 5k posts and a dozen or so debates completed. There was a good year or so where I would debate, participate in forum mafia, and hang out on video calls each evening, playing Risk and other online games with a core group of folks.
Reflecting on my adolescence, being exposed at a young age to people from different viewpoints who debated issues passionately, but then could still be friends and part of a forum community, was a formative experience. I'm grateful for those years.
I figured the community was long gone, but was surprised to find this site and saw a few usernames I recognized - I remember Airmax, Wylted, Thett3, Whiteflame, Mikal, Bullish, imabench, 9spaceking, to name a few who I can tell have profiles on here. 10+ years later, out of boredom and curiosity, here I am making this post.
