Where you have to either feed, hydrate, shelter, warm your character and/or your character's mount.

Do you love these or find them annoying.

I love me some survival mechanics, which is ironic because I hate camping and I take care of myself like health is a myth.

Survival is a basic instinct. Introducing survival skills in games keeps it challenging.

Didnt play much survival games. I mean, where you die if you dont eat. Maybe the only one which comes close to it is Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines, because you are a vampire and cant do anything if you dont feed.

Mm... Tremere?

Yes, but I played all others too. I probably completed the game about 50 times. Of course a blood mage vampire would be my first choice, and its also overpowered because his first ability, blood strike, can actually defeat anyone in the game as long as you keep spamming it and using blood packs to restore blood. I also liked completing the game with guns alone, but you can even complete the game with fists alone or knife on some characters. It is one single game I enjoyed playing over and over. I dont know what I liked more, using powers to control enemies, to make them go insane, using powers to become basically impossible to harm with high fortitude power and high defense, or when I realized that there is no need to invest any points in strength because blood buff gives you full strength on its own anyway. Its one of those games where there are thousands of interesting things to try.

I disliked that picking your race also meant picking your appearance, but what can you expect from an older game. I bought it last year and went Ventrue because I liked the mind control powers.

The roleplaying value in that game was through the roof. And the atmosphere was so cool.

I've found them fun.

Sometimes ends up a bit forgotten of a mechanic at times maybe.

Early game, struggle to acquire food, late game you acquire food production source.

Same way stamina in some games matters at start, but after enough levels you never run out of stamina.

Still, some games with said mechanic, you go on expeditions.

Kenshi for example, or Minecraft traveling far distances.

Fallout New Vegas, had a bit interesting mechanic,

Of some food and water being radiated, creating a 'want for 'quality food.

Lot of games, do you really care if you drink fine wine with flavor text or dirty water?

Third element of radiation, allowed a bit of variation.

. .

Money's also a problem sometimes, lot of games you end up with basically infinite money at a certain point.

. . .

Be kind of cool if one needed to defend cities from certain events maybe, or lose the city and resource of farmlands and merchants.

Minecraft has done that in the past with Illager Raids, zombie attacks I suppose, though I've not played with that too much.

I enjoyed it in New Vegas. Always carried around a couple of glass pitchers and surgical tubing to purify my dirty water on the go. Searching for food, avoiding radiation, it all just adds an extra edge to games that I like.

Mind control powers are great against weaker enemies, makes some levels super easy. Tho only some powers are useful against stronger enemies.

Depends on the game. I find it extremely annoying in Mount and Blade.

The long dark is a survival game so food and whatnot is actually the challenge (along with water, fuel, warm clothes, etc), and there it’s kinda fun.

I got it on winter sale but I stopped playing after 10 min trudging through low res winter woodland with nothing of interest to be found. Is it a good game?

You can learn survival skills from playing it.

I like it. It’s interesting, once you get past the β€œwhat the fuck do I do I want to stop dying”.

Only issue is that after you explore everything, it’s kinda like... everywhere it’s just. WHITE. WHITE EVERYWHERE.

But until you get to that point, yeah, the game is fun. If you play on at least Voyageur, not whatever the lowest difficulty is.

Nice maybe I'll try it again.

I did enjoy Green Hell.

Is that because it’s a hell of your choosing?

Survival games are great. The Long Dark was kinda fun but I kinda lost the plot pretty quickly and it got boring.

Lowkey my favorite is Stranded Deep. It's buggy as hell in a lot of places and the plot, while it technically exists, isn't super fleshed out or important, but it's just got a good basis in the genre - crash landed on an island, now you gotta find resources to build yourself a shelter and try to survive/eventually escape. Bonus points if you manage to find the spots on the randomly generated maps to hunt sea monsters get brutally killed by sea monsters.

Sounds fun until you realise these are the epitome of the most addictive games possible because of how extreme the in-game coercion is to keep revisiting to prevent in-game annihilation/reset.

The US is a definitively secular nation, founded on complete separation of the State and religion. The Left Wing of US realise this but don't realise that pure freedom requires as low tax and free access to guns as possible. The Right Wing of US don't realise that secular pure freedom means the LGBTQ+ and abortion agendas both end up in line with US's liberty-first ethos.

It is left-wing to be pro-life. You are backing poor babies being born at the inconvenience of the already-born. Go figure.
