Ever Rethinking the Lords Prayer

It's too bad The Lord's Prayer didn't work for my 7 year old cousin that died from leukemia.

It's certainly looks long thought out, lengthy, and containing words most people don't use too often.

I see therein no request for specific health, but sustenance [pie-hole stuff], forgiveness, righteousness, and acknowledgement of Father's kingdom, power, and glory. What makes you think your young cousin did not have those blessings? Because he died? Jim Morrison said "No one here gets out alive." He was correct. - it's only a matter of age when the getting happens, and that is usually not our call. We often blame God for that, else, many more people would not believe in him at all, and blame is a lousy reason to believe.

Usually, re-thinking of something already offered just complicates what was already simple and essential. As I said to FLRW, the Lord's Prayer, which was, after all, a pattern of prayer offered ["after this manner" was Christ's advice, not necessarily that they be the only words offered in prayer]. The example given: sustenance [pie-hole stuff], forgiveness, righteousness, and acknowledgement of Father's kingdom, power, and glory.. However, I suggest that we would be better off if most or our prayers were of gratitude for sustenance, righteousness, and the conditions of God's kingdom, rather than always asking for this and that.

Debts and debtors...Never heard that before.

When I was a kid, it was always trespasses and those who trespass against us.

Though even as a kid I thought that it was all baloney...

Huh? Christ is a Bible only voo-doo fantasy fairy tale type of person as is the whole fantasy God thing is.

Bucky only used that God label cause he was born in 1895 into a much more religious God non-sense world and his definitions of God as that of Universe ergo, logical, common sense critical thinking.

Ive read all of Fullers Bucky's books and no where does he use words spirit, soul or other similar stuff from that age and prior thinking.

I on the other hand do use words spirit and soul based on logical, common sense critical thinking pathways of thought via dictionary.

Considering you can't let people discuss religion or faith without your 2 cents I imagine forgiveness and live and let live are baloney for you.

Well, head down and ignore is my approach and avoids the necessity for conflict.

You forget by punishing the countries responsible for the twin tower attack. It will discourage them from future attempts. The cost was worth it to establish everlasting peace.

Trump only seeks to profit from his actions. Confusing Greenland with Iceland might have confused his decision.

Yes, based upon Vance's feedback, Trump probably thought that Greenland was the icy place.

I've heard of bait and switch, whereby Trump would advertise Iceland with a mind to selling Greenland.

Based upon the notion that Greenland was intrinsically more valuable, but less appealing to the prospective clients.

You got it backwards. Trump was using Greenland as bait to sell Iceland which he would switch once the offers came in. But unfortunately Greenland happens to be a NATO country and NATO is protesting.

If any good feelings are resultant of doing a prayer could be consider to work, irrespective of the degree of the what is being prayed for.

A prayer is not the same as a Geni in a lamp granting us three wishes. Those be completed exactly as wished for
