We certainly have the right to say anything that is not the direct cause of another's harm, and, beneath that, anything goes, even if another takes offense by it. The problem with sandwich guy is that while he ignores that taking offense can include censure, although that is not very civilized, throwing the sandwich, and making contact with his target, does fall under the legal definition of assault and battery, and is a felony charge in D.C., whether or not the contact caused harm by intent. What, you think assault and battery is a little girl's downturned Morton's salt jar and a 9-volt?

It’s all the same. I don’t mean “unserious” as in just goofing off, I mean it in the sense that they’re not actually trying to persuade anyone, because even they know how ridiculous they sound. It’s more like: “I know you know I don’t believe this, but I’m going to say it anyway, because I can.” It’s about power. Forcing us to sit through their nonsense, knowing it’s nonsense, and enjoying every second of how furious we get at the sheer absurdity of it.

And even if anyone of the 800+ people charged with crime at the Capitol, there is not a single conviction for "insurrection" [18 USC §2383], therefore, no insurrection as accused by every woke person on the planet, so lose that non-existent accusation. I first read the Constitution at age 5 by my father's challenge. I read it now, fully, at least every month for the past 30 years, and have, in my varied career, professionally sworn allegiance to it by oath. I think federal prosecutors usually use discretion but if they really choose to screw you they can in a way that’s actually pretty grotesque. Agreed, in fact that's kind of my point. The split picture of that this president chose to ignore and later sanction, vs what his administration is now choosing to throw the book at, is damning. If we were a serious country this would be the topic of our national discussion and this administration would be dragged out of the oval office. But we're not.

The line was "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard". It was the single reference in an almost 11,000 word speech that was not inflammatory. The idea that any observer would hear that one line and drown out the rest of his speech is absurd.

It's also wildly incoherent when recognized in it's context. Make your voices heard to who? The people whom Trump just spent the prior two months telling the crowd were hell bent on stealing it?
