Employment is transitory, inflation is functionally permanent.

you would need to be able to point to what the president actually did to cause it

Actually, no. It is enough that he is president when it happens. If you dont want competent responsible leaders, but seek excuses for all failures of your favorite party, then really, you probably shouldnt even vote. You are just a political bot.

Who are you to take voters rights away. You are not even an American?

Edit post

@Debby

Its people like him who make trump win. Instead of admitting failure to stop inflation, he makes excuses for not stopping it. they did same when Biden went insane, and they started making excuses instead of admitting an obvious problem.

Voters dont like excuses for not solving a problem.

That’s why they have elections. To bring about a change in leadership.

You know what actually takes voter rights away? When you have zero safeguards accounting for election fraud.

Declaring elections secure with no verifications is the same as declaring the US border secure after you turn the cameras off.

Security and integrity require robust systems of control, not reduced controls...

Voter fraud in America is minuscule. Share of reported cases of fraud over the past 38 years is less than 1%.

Then you hold Trump personally responsible for the highest unemployment catastrophe we have seen in our lifetimes during his final year in office (2020)… right?

…Right?

Right, do you mistake me for someone who supports Trump?

Because I can tell you right now, I am not a political bot of any party.

Political parties don't care for you. I don't know why you care for them.

No, but perhaps I am mistaking you for someone who cares about intellectual honesty and consistency. A mistake I find myself making often on these debate sites. Must be projection.

This conversation began in post 4 where you argued that the economy under Trump is “slightly better” than it would have been under Harris.

In post 12 I responded asking what argument could you possibly offer in support of this.

You responded in post 13 with “low inflation rate”.

I then challenged you on this nonsensical argument in posts 21, 25, and 30. During these posts you defended this by ultimately arguing that president’s are responsible for whatever happens while they are in office whether they caused it or not. That’s not a defensible position, which is why you then had to ultimately resort to blaming Trump for Covid.

So no, this isn’t me calling you out for supporting Trump, it’s about the fact you made an indefensible point and the when pressed decided to defend it anyway. And of you’re going to do that then fine, at least admit that when you can’t keep it going any longer instead of pretending the person pointing it out is the problem.

If you don't want to blame Biden for failing to stop inflation for 4 years, and also not blame Trump for keeping inflation low, then what?

It seems to me that you are just making excuses for failures of your own party.

And yeah, I blame leaders and responsible ones for whatever happens during their rule.

Maybe it's their fault, maybe it isn't, but better don't risk it by electing them again.

You, on the other hand, make excuses for failures of your own party. So yeah, you are the problem.

My position isn't indefensible. It is reasonable to measure leader's efficiency by measuring situation under his rule.

You, on the other hand, want to pretend Biden did nothing to cause inflation which started during his rule, and at the same time pretend Trump did nothing to keep inflation low.

So with you, it's all about pretending. You don't know what Biden did, and you don't know what Trump did. But we know inflation now and inflation under Biden, and inflation under Kamala who would by her own words "keep doing same as Biden".

Yeah, it's a shame that someone is willing to defend an absurd political situation by claiming his leaders cannot control economy, unless when economy is good.

You had it right at political bot.

The regression of US political tribalism is fueling a race to the bottom.

Nearly every branch of the US government is co-opted with activists on both sides, leaving little room for competent people.

That's how your country ended up with Kamala, Biden, Trump, and AOC. Obama ran on being a community activist, and he delivered. Big time.

Obama followed the Chinese social/economic development and used it as his model.

Because Biden inherited the economy Trump totally fucked up, the depths of which are 100% Trump’s fault according to your own logic. Trump inherited a recovered and growing economy, so the comparison is disingenuous.

If you don't want to blame Biden for failing to stop inflation for 4 years, and also not blame Trump for keeping inflation low, then what?

It seems to me that you are just making excuses for failures of your own party.

It seems that way because you either don’t have the bandwidth to understand that there’s more to grading a president’s economic performance than “Biden President, inflation bad, Biden bad”, or you are just too lazy to do the work necessary to understand it.

This isn’t complicated. Correlation =/= causation. Just because Biden is president and inflation happens doesn’t mean Biden is responsible for inflation. In this case when you look at the facts, you would see that inflation was a global phenomenon caused primarily by the supply chain disruptions that took place prior to Biden taking office. The effects were not avoidable, they just didn’t have time to materialize before Trump left office otherwise you would have seen the same phenomenon under Trump.

Maybe it's their fault, maybe it isn't, but better don't risk it by electing them again.

It’s only seen as a risk when one doesn’t understand what is going on.

You, on the other hand, make excuses for failures

No, I explain reality for what it is, which is complex and nuanced. I’m sorry that bothers you, but ignoring complexity and nuance doesn’t make them disappear.

My position isn't indefensible. It is reasonable to measure leader's efficiency by measuring situation under his rule.

There is nothing wrong with this as a generalization or a starting point, the problem is when you ignore very real and uncontrollable factors that shaped those particular results and instead just pretend the president is automatically responsible for everything.

You said earlier that I’m the problem, no, this is exactly the problem. People are too stupid or disinterested to know what is going on so we end up with the biggest moron that has ever been seriously considered for president sitting in our Oval Office… again.

Unless you can prove Biden didnt cause inflation and war in Ukraine which started after he took control of economy, I will play safe and conclude it was his fault, because if I didnt play safe, politicians would get away with a lot.

Edit post

@SatanLucy

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and annexed Crimea. The in 2022 there was a full scale Russian invasion of Ukraine under Biden. Bu5 Biden had nothin* to do with it. It was a continuing war since 2014.

Wouldn't voter ID get rid of all the "stupid" voters? Or is that narrative a paradox since mostly Democrat voters are allowed to be too stupid to know how to get an ID or birth certificate online with a few clicks?

The narrative about "stupid voters" definitely needs a software update for the American political bot.

This isn’t playing it safe, this is just willful ignorance.

The only “proof” you need that Biden didn’t cause inflation is the fact that it was a global phenomenon, since we’re not concerned about any nuances here.

And seriously, you need it proven to you that Biden didn’t cause war in Ukraine? What the hell does that even mean?

About 60% of USA are just political bots. to them, elections are like football game where they cheer for side they randomly picked. Anyone who believes democrats or republicans love him and arent just exploiting him for votes, power and money, probably shouldnt vote.

This is a great political philosophy. Guilty until proven innocent should apply to all politicians. Narratives that presume innocence from people with a monopoly on power should be discarded immediately.

In fact, your cottage political narrative industry is close to becoming bankrupt with declining viewership year over year. Muddled messaging only makes this decline faster.

That's a massive improvement and a good sign for the future. Fewer narrative outlets mean fewer political bots.

Yes. Its not just arbitrary standard. Its also very simple for stupid voters to follow. While a more complicated thinking can be made, such does not work for average voter in USA. If we are going to allow excuses for bad government, then political bots on both sides will always come up with excuses and nothing will ever be better.

Edit post

@Shoresy

I blame democrats for making trump win. Democrats were simply weak and incompetent, and instead of getting better, they started making excuses for being incompetent so they could stay incompetent.

these same political bots who make excuses for incompetence are just helping people like trump win.

Voters may be stupid, but when one man (such as trump) says "I can fix this", and the other candidate starts making excuses for not fixing things during their term, and for making things worse, even the dumbest voter will be attracted to vote for person who said he can fix things, and not for person who makes excuses for being incompetent, and this is true almost universally.

Democrats could have said "Biden is insane and incompetent". Instead, they pretended an obvious incompetence was competence.

Democrats have no one to blame but themselves. If things were actually good during their governing, voters wouldnt replace them with trump.

Because even the dumbest voter can tell when situation gets significantly worse. there is only so much incompetence a leader can get away with.

The number one reason why Kamala lost is because she said she couldn't think of a thing she would do differently.

If her political bot base stopped making excuses for her, maybe she could have come up with something...ANYTHING....and she would be your president today....
