Trump doesn't want to abolish the birthright citizenship, he just wants to make it clear that this law should only reach the American parents, not the tourists or illegal inmigrants.
Tourist babies are not the real problem because they tend to be middle class people. Illegal babies are. If tourists were taking advantage of the law, imagine the illegal inmigrants.
I understant that Democrats need to win the debate, but this is not a reason to defend illegal actions like illegal inmigration and all the related consequences.
