It's really weird that Democrats in this forum didn't bring this subject up considering it's an unacceptable behavior from a president of one of the host countries of the FIFA World Cup.
I know Americans don't give a shit about football, so-called soccer by them, so I'll give a short explanation of what happened.
Balogun, an American footballer, was red-carded in the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, so that means he wasn't going to be in the next match against Belgium. If you don't know, Balogun is among the best footballers in the US, so it could have been an important loss.
Here it is where Trump got in action. He made a call to Infantino, the FIFA president, to reconsider the sanction. Next day, Balogun was all of a sudden able to play in the match. Of course, the Belgian team called out the FIFA for the decision, but the best way they found to speak out was humilliating the US team in the field. Belgium defeated the US by a large margin, four goals no less.
I can't defend what Trump did, and everybody knows the FIFA is a corruption nest. He's got to think it twice when trying to mix politics with sports, specially when it comes to the FIFA.
