Highways and Hedges sounds more post feudal English...Though perhaps no more than one should expect from a fifteenth century English Romanticised literature..

Which caused this verse to spring to mind. luke23:25 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Although, I do agree about dirt tracks and scrub quip. Which the comment by @JenKiggans caused me to make a quip of my own considering I live almost on the countryside of town_ Stoke Prior.

He had a centre of operations firmly embedded in Bethany were he spent most of his time relaxing and dipping his feet in the Jordan, while his best friend who "he loved" was sleeping, then sick and then dead. although Jesus said he wouldn't die. THEN HE DID DIE!

But Jesus brought Lazarus back to life. Another one of his miracles.

He traveled all around Galilee actually and He never said He wouldn't die. He told the Disciples several times that He would be crucified and that his "hour was coming" and he rose again

And he travelled mostly on foot.
