I have been debating theists from multiple religions, mainly Christians from America and Canada, Muslims from Pakistan, India many from Europe too. And Hindus from India.

Debating with the most educated ones is mostly about cosmological argument, infinite regress of causes, timelines, interpretation of their texts, either no God or an evil God. And mostly it's well known arguments.

But let's be honest, when we walk up to a theist on a random street, and ask him/her about why do they believe in a God, they won't say "everything needs a creator, so the world must be created by someone" something they will likely say is, CHRIST IS KING, or Allah Hu Akbar, or rant about greatness of their religion.

All is good and well till this point, until you challenge the layman theist about thier religion, because you will be getting arguments from them which you have never heard of, which you can't answer, as an atheist. Someone said to me, why is the universe so perfect ? I said, no it is not perfect, it's just random stuff, which lead to evolution, which makes you think that it's perfect from a human perspective, but outside human interests the world in itself seems ro have no meaning. Out of all the things I said, he picked 'randomness' and asked me to exaplain what I meant by that, I have read "the God delusion" I just copy pasted the lines from my memory to speech, and the next thing they ask me is, to take a box of mechanical parts and shake it to a point till a watch forms ๐Ÿ˜‚

How do you answer that point, even if you do, will they get the point ?

Every layman theist will have such a 'starter snack argument'

Which is followed by the main meal, which I have termed an illness, for this form.

Christians will say " Do your Own research"

Muslims will say "read quran" or "Inshallah may Allah guide you to the right path and bless you with intelligence to do so "

Hindus will say " see you don't know the Sanskrit Language and Sanskrit texts(veds, gita etc) you are an adharmi(using a Sanskrit word for irreligious to sound intellectual), if you read Veds, you will know the greatness of Hindu Dharma(Religion)"

And that's it, they will give their all to prove that the person who challenged their beliefs lacks something in him that's why he is an atheist. And that they have done some research, or know some high dimensional stuff. I had trouble dealing with this kind of theists, but now All I do is call them out for this behavior. And they usually just run away from the argument after that.
