For real though, it’s the King James Version, because it’s more poetic and sounds better.

I listed the most popular and trusted bibles.

Debby wrote: The (NEW) Revised Standard Version , the (NEW) Jerusalem Bible, or the (NEW) American Standard Version are the recommended Bibles.The King James Version is ok if you can understand the old English translation.

I also listed my preference.

Debby wrote: Yes I like the KJ. But I often quote from the New International Version (NIV). The English translation is simpler.

Why do you have such a problem following simple posts? Is it your lack of education or you are out of touch with Christianity being a non-practicing Christian?

@Debby

Christianity being a non-practicing Christian?

You are the part timer , your confused little soul. You'd' never read the bible until questioned on it and even then you tried to palm off answers from AI as your own responses to the questions put to you. You are a fkn fraud.

You confessed in your profile you lack enough education and you are a non practicing Christian. Any wonder you are so bad at reading scriptures. But your lack of education and having lost touch with Christianity is effecting your comprehension. You even mix obscenities when quoting the scriptures, distorting its meaning even further. Satan has you under his control . You are going to hell.

NRSV says it all.

New Revised Standard Version.

So it's New, It's Revised and it's only a Version.

As for Standard...Standard what?...Whose Standard?

My advice is Wryly...Don't waste your money on yet another New Revised Version....Go buy yourself something useful instead.

Why are you posts always like

You think X? maybe Y... who knows what X even is... some even say Z... perhaps Z is secretly what you long for? Ask yourself

@SergeantLynch

Forgot to actually answer.

The NRSV will be constantly updated as scholars piece together a clearer picture of language and history. That's why I prefer it.

@Wryly

For sure, "scholars" have to continually adapt to suit the needs of a modern audience...Which was my point....And in terms of creation and existence, to know A and Z would be astounding...Where are we at presently do you think?...B perhaps, and still clinging to fantasy hypotheses...Magic Men for Ignorant people...And a nice new book to boot...Enjoy.

You still haven’t answered which Bible you use. If you don’t use any, you should excuse yourself from this discussion.

I still have the children's picture edition...The one with a middle aged nun on a donkey surrounded by 1960's hippies.

And you still cannot remember its title. That’s a picture Bible for kids.

You confessed in your profile you lack enough education

"Confessed" LOL ffs, you really are fkn desperate aren't you thicko?

Its there for all to see and only a desperate twat such as yourself would attempt to interpret what I answered in my bio as me being somehow uneducated.

Edit post

@Stephen

Your profile said you didn’t receive enough education. This is obvious from your poor reading and comprehension skills and how you even contradict yourself frequently without being pressured.

Why are all your post attacking the Bible and trying to find contradictions where there are none? For a non-practicing Christian you are irrationally attacking the Bible. Satan has taken control over you.

Your profile said you didn’t receive enough education.

Nope: you should read that for what it is you fkn idiot.

Edit post

@Stephen

Read again under education in your profile you answered not enough.

That means you did not receive enough education.

Your poor reading and comprehension skills prove your point. It’s your lack of education or as you put it “never enough.” for the daily challenges.

Edit post

#46 •••

Nope. It says NEVER ENOUGH, you twat. One can never get enough education. Click on the screenshot and open in a new image tab, you dozy twat

Edit post

#47 •••
@Stephen

You are confessing you didn’t get “enough education”, that is why you lack sufficient education to engage in a discussion especially about the Bible, because you have also been a non-practicing Christian.

Edit post

#48 •••
You are confessing you didn’t get “enough education”,

Stop it you absolute freak. I state "NEVER ENOUGH". I could always edit it to state" more than you" Debby.LOL.

I think that it's entitled The Adventures of Captain Magic.

Featuring, Old Ged, Daft Joe, Mary and Jesus the itinerant carpenter with his gang of chums.

Chapter 1...Old Ged and Mary in the Stable.

@Stephen

Now you can’t hide the fact you confessed your lack of education and even posted it as proof. To get more education you have to go back to school or you will always be handicapped by not having enough education and disqualified for your lack of education.

i'm not talking about translations but that is its own can of worms.

Theres protestant, Catholic, and orthodox versions each with different books in them. Ive always been partial to catholic and orthodox bibles cause im more deferential to their authority structure. But ive never really been able to pick between those two churches as to which is a superior structure. I suppose Catholic but im not sure

I use the 66 books - that of Anthanasius determined were the preserved books - and which were commonly used by the church congregations back then. This included the 39 books of the Hebrew OT - 22 books actually - some were combined and followed the Hebrew Alphabet. And the 27 letters of the NT.

The Roman Catholics hold to these books plus some others. The Orthodox and the High Anglican subscribe to the same. The Ethiopian congregation holds to some other books.

Probably i hold to these because I was raised protestant and the arguments for these made the most sense. If the Jews rejected the apocrypha as canon, then I suspect that too be a valid argument to reject it. Similarly, the NT books - tend to have different flavours. Anyone who has read the dead sea scrolls - and checked out the different voices - soon come to a similar story. It's interesting that those who reject Jesus as God, tend to consider some of the other letters which had been rejected by the church - as more authoritative. I suspect that this tells us something in the first place.

Personally, I think the Holy Spirit gives us the grace to believe some books are correct and some are not. This is why Luther didn't reject some books even though he would have - if he had a choice. He hated James, but couldn't reject it - since it has been confirmed by the Spirit of God. The same with Hebrews and the book of Revelation. The fact that I think the Holy Spirit agrees with just the 66 books - is of course my prejudice.

Translations of the ancient languages have different purposes - yes all for understanding - but some prefer more wooden literalism and others prefer more contemporary understanding. Some have different underlying manuscripts. The KJV has a different Greek text than the ESV.

Still, notwithstanding the differences in texts, the unity is staggering really. At least for those who have studied such things. Most Christians still tend to fall within the Apostles Creed. These are fascinating really.

@Tradesecret

Yes, historical events are fascinating...Though the further back we go, data and the reinterpretation of data becomes less and less factually reliable. Nonetheless, given what we know, it is very easy to distinguish between that which was potentially true and that which was fantastic exaggeration.

Edit post

#53 •••
@SergeantLynch

Isn’t it a wonder that the majority held the fantastic exaggeration as potentially true and made it less distinguishable between the two?

Edit post

#54 •••
@Debby

Incorrect...Children are programmed often forcibly, to accept that the fantastic exaggeration is potentially true....Whereas others like yourself make whimsical decisions.

I am immune to programming. My parents thought they could program me, but they received an answer that knocked them out of their wits.

Edit post

#56 •••

What most parents seem to forget is that children tend to grow up, and parents hurting their own children leads to problems later, and those problems can get worse.

Edit post

#57 •••
@SatanLucy

It only gets worse when their children continue to depend on them for money.

Edit post

@Debby

Yes, my parents are providers who will never be appreciated or even be thanked for providing. they are in position where they can give me anything they can give, any amount of wealth or favors, and they still wont get a response they want or even a "thank you".

they learned the hard way that you cant fix your mistakes with money or gifts, and they really know it wont get better, even if Allah lies to them that it will.

Edit post

@SatanLucy

Parents are generally legally responsible for their children until they reach the age of majority—18 or 19 depending on the province/territory

. While financial support typically ends at 18 , responsibility can continue if the child remains dependent due to illness, disability, or full-time education.

which of the 3 are in your case. Disability?

@SatanLucy

Fortunately post war protestant Britain somewhat rebelled against enforced religious education...And I was also fortunate to have a devoutly atheist Father and an indifferent Mother who was essentially non-religious.

Roman Catholics had other ideas and their own private schools/programming centres....Though Catholicism tended to be very much a regional thing.
