Alien Mafia DP1

Catching up this morning. Given that it's Alien, I'm not surprised Xenomorph is in the game, though it's interesting that there apparently are individual characters and whole species included in this game. The Kalkara were in last game, so it's certainly not a first.

Mind explaining why you'd pop in and start with a VTL on Vader, who just said that he won't be available until Sunday? What's the point of that?

Okay just letting everyone know that canonically, Ripley and Newt got away and lived happily ever after. I will be acknowledging the alternate timeline of Aliens 3 and 4 for the context of this game, and the context of this game ONLY, but they literally never happened I need everyone to know that. Ripley and Newt got away and they both got therapy and Ripley raised Newt as her daughter. Anyone who says this isn't canon is trying to sabotage my mental health and I will report them for cyberbullying immediately. #RipleyAndNewtLived

Not sure why you'd be discussing a system for what you say is basically random voting through a number generator. Maybe that's just having some fun with Mharman's previous efforts to get everyone to select a number. Also, a little weird that you went from discussing softclaims to straight up claiming your character, but I can understand why you did it.

Going off of this your claim, I think softclaiming whether our characters are or are not human seems like the way to do it. Mine is not human.

I’m curious on how you know Thoth’s character?

reading through the last game I’d rather get a claim early as she is still learning and the accidental new player aura confused a bunch of people. Also new players as scum tend to skip. So locking down early helps

Upon re reading I think I may have misunderstood Thoth. The only issue I have is him claiming a Xenomorph but my character is the Xenomorph. I admit that I know nothing about the Alien franchise so I had thought the Xenomorph was an individual character and not necessarily an entire species.

You'd need to define "human" clearly, as Alien: Earth introduces some things that blur the line. I guess Alien Resurrection did as well, with all that alienspliced Ripley and Ripleyspliced alien.

Never love this kind of behavior from Mikal, but he literally did it the first game we did on here trying to get a claim out of McDonalds.

That’s odd. I guess there could be multiple Xenomorphs in the game, that would be fun considering how many of them are running around in the movies, but the CC is hard to ignore. Can’t imagine Luna giving two different people Xenomorph and distinguishing them as “a” and “the”. They’re a species, not a character. Will need to think on this one.

Yeah… it’s certainly a line to draw given the events of Alien 3 and Resurrection. Might give away some claims depending on what everyone is. Still, I think it’s the only softclaim that might work, albeit with some problems.

They're an entire species, but there are individuals in it that stood apart, like the queen in Aliens, the sort of proto-xenomorph in Prometheus, the hybrid that called Ripley "mama." Etc. I didn't see Romulus or Covenant, possibly more there.

Seems kind of weird for Lunatic to give people individual xenomorphs from the species but give you the whole species, but not impossible, I guess.

Still runs into the same problem since some characters have Xenomorph in them. Also might be a little over limiting. We already have two Xenomorph claims and I’d be surprised if there are more about (though a Queen would be less surprising).

I guess that last post gives it away, but then so does my incredulity with the discrepancy between these two claims, so I’ll just say I’m not a Xenomorph.

I'm cool to do the human/not human soft too, that isolates androids and creatures as well as xenomorphs, so it's not so limiting. Just keeping in mind that we have cyborgs and hybrids, so how is someone who falls in those categories supposed to answer?

I was under the impression that all aliens are called Xenomorphs and "the alien" refers to one specific Xenomorph that hunts the humans in the movie. My character is a type of alien, in the same way that Rex had Wargals last game. The role PM sounds like I am a Xenomorph but the justification for my ability is that it goes against the interests of Xenomorphs. I know it's weird.

So there’s xenomorph as a species as a character and then a specific one? That doesn’t make much sense to me
