just an FYI on this for further thought, but post 76 includes a vote count on Mikal "1/6"... do "popular" vote counts typically increase the number in the tabulation? "1/7" for example, I think I may have seen that before but I might be mistaken... We may already know the answer to this test

I'm noticing no one's given you a straight answer to these questions. The answer is, it depends on the nature of the anti-claim mechanic. The most recent example (and I think the one most of us are considering when it comes to this game) came from the Deltarune game run by Casey.

That anti-claim mechanic is not what I would think of as extremely nasty. I'm thinking more like having your ability permanently removed or your results being tampered with without informing you. Worst-case scenario would be death, but I very much doubt Kohai would go that far.

He probably knows the role as a Mason Recruiter. MU uses a lot of the same roles we've used for decades but with different titles. Even my role has a different name than what I commonly understand it to be.

Since Masons are town by definition, I can see the wisdom of not calling it a Mason Recruiter. I almost wrote, "unless the person you target is only added to the chat if they are town", and then saw the problem there.

I mean, that's a bit of mod psych. We don't know what flavor of anti-claim is being used here. We should assume it's bad and that people who have claimed so far are either personally in danger as a result or that their night actions may in some way be affected. Given that those actions are Caroler and Neighborizer, I don't know what effect that could be, but it's possible that they just won't be able to use their role, which would make Mikal's decision to straight claim a problem.

Could someone describe what such a mechanic looks like in practice? Like if I claim am I gona get day vigged then janitored? or something of equivalent dramatics etc? I'd like an idea of the risk me me claiming - especially since I do have 3 votes on me right now.

Only a couple of people have used it on DART and DC. Mainly Casey and Cerulean.

If i remember correctly, Casey’s anti-claim mechanic made a target unblockable ie if I claimed my character and role, scum could use anticlaim on me and even if a Doctor protected me, I would die via a regular NK.

I think Cerulean gave me and Luna a roleblock as anti claim. If someone claimed, we could roleblock them

I buy Max’s claim. It’s possible he could be a scum Neighborizer, but there’s no reason for scum to claim such a role unless it’s their true role.

Pretty hard to figure out, I think mechanically Luna is probably town but I’m like 80%. I guess Thoth is like 65% town imo but this game is a bit of a nightmare

Does your PM imply negative consequences for such a recruiting role targeting you? If that's the case it makes Max look a bit scummy for coming out of the gate with the full claim. Scum would have no fear of anti-claim, and why would town have a role that fucks with a neighborizer?

You're the second person to mention this. Does Kohai have a reputation for doing this? Anything other than random role assignment was unthinkable back when I played. It seems like a bizarre thing to speculate about otherwise.
